  • • Analyze and maintain U.S. statutes, administrative codes, and court cases for assigned jurisdictions or states to ensure legal content accuracy and currency.
  • • Apply and review case treatment taxonomies to ensure consistent classification and tagging across legal collections.
  • • Write, edit, and update case headnotes and summaries (digests) to enhance usability and clarity for legal professionals.
  • • Conduct rigorous quality checks on content submitted by other Editors and external contractors to uphold editorial standards.
  • • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or errors in the legal content collection and escalate issues with detailed documentation and recommended solutions.
  • • Contribute technical input to developers building data pipelines and parsers by translating editorial requirements into actionable specifications.
  • • Coordinate closely with the Content team to prioritize and manage editorial backlogs, aligning workflow with business objectives.
  • • Utilize Iceberg (vLex’s internal content factory tool) and jurisdiction-specific editorial platforms to perform day-to-day content management tasks.
  • • Ensure all legal materials comply with current statutory, regulatory, and court rule updates to maintain the integrity of the platform’s legal database.
  • • Serve as a subject matter expert on U.S. Court System structures, case law principles, and legal research methodologies to inform content strategy.
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and AI teams to support the modernization of editorial processes through technology-driven solutions.
  • • Maintain meticulous attention to detail in every editorial task, ensuring precision in legal language, citation formats, and jurisdictional applicability.
  • • Demonstrate deep familiarity with the U.S. legal framework, including federal and state court hierarchies, procedural rules, and judicial reasoning patterns.
  • • Act as a steward of legal accuracy, recognizing the impact of editorial work on access to justice and the daily operations of legal professionals.
  • • Participate in ongoing process improvements, offering feedback to enhance editorial tools, workflows, and quality control mechanisms.
  • • Stay current with changes in U.S. case law and legislative developments to proactively update content before regulatory deadlines.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent experience as an attorney, with demonstrated familiarity with the U.S. Court System and U.S. Case Law
  • • Experience with statute editing, proprietary citators, and case analysis
  • • High level of attention to detail and proven ability to manage complex legal content with precision
