- • The Electrical Engineer II role at FORTNA is critical to designing and deploying advanced control systems for material handling solutions that power modern distribution, fulfillment, and warehouse operations. This position directly contributes to optimizing order fulfillment and last-mile delivery for global brands by engineering scalable, reliable electrical systems that integrate with intelligent software and automation technologies.
- • As part of FORTNA’s engineering team, the Electrical Engineer II will work on complex conveyor and sortation systems, applying industry standards and proprietary tools to ensure safe, efficient, and innovative material flow solutions that meet customer specifications and drive operational excellence.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include developing complete control system designs using IEC/US standards and customer specifications with minimal supervision, utilizing Autodesk ACAD-E and FORTNA custom tools to produce detailed electrical drawings for control panels, power distribution single lines, and conveyor layouts.
- • The role involves calculating power requirements and ratings for single line diagrams and control panels, developing and releasing bills of materials for panels and field devices, and supporting remote teams in reviewing drawings to facilitate manufacturing and installation.
- • The engineer will troubleshoot electrical circuits, Ethernet networks, and basic PLC logic, deploy and commission control solutions at customer facilities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical challenges.
- • Additional duties include learning and implementing best practices in conveyor control systems such as flow control, gapping, and accumulation, applying sound engineering principles for scalable solutions, and meeting project deadlines under pressure while maintaining alignment with team goals.

- • In this role, the Electrical Engineer II will deepen expertise in industrial automation, gain hands-on experience with leading PLC and VFD systems, and develop proficiency in industrial network protocols and HMI software, positioning them for advancement into senior engineering or technical leadership roles.
🎯 Requirements
- • B.S. Degree in Engineering with 3-5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent practical experience without a degree.
- • Proficiency in Autodesk ACAD-Electrical (ACAD-E) for creating electrical drawings and schematics, along with knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and UL508A standards.
- • Hands-on experience with industrial network protocols (EthernetIP, Profibus, EtherCAT) and familiarity with PLCs from Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Schneider, or Siemens, including VFD solutions.
