- • Develop relay settings and protection philosophies for distribution equipment including transformers, bus systems, breaker control, capacitor banks, and distribution feeders.
- • Review protection and control design packages to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- • Provide remote field support to relay test engineers during the installation and verification of relay settings.
- • Model electrical systems using power simulation software such as CAPE, ASPEN, and CYME to analyze system behavior and optimize protection schemes.
- • Create thorough, accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and detailed engineering calculations for client deliverables.
- • Continuously improve job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge through self-directed learning and application of new technologies.
- • Mentor and train less experienced engineers in power engineering theories, relay protection principles, and industry best practices.
- • Participate in daily team meetings held at 8:00 a.m. EST to coordinate project tasks and ensure alignment with team goals.
- • Work independently from a remote location without direct supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and timeliness.
- • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support utility clients in enhancing grid reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
- • Apply computer software tools to model engineering problems, automate spreadsheet-based analyses, and develop automation systems for improved workflow efficiency.
- • Ensure all assignments are planned, managed, and completed on schedule and within budget, with clear communication of obstacles or delays.
- • Maintain up-to-date expertise in relay protection technologies and communication protocols relevant to modern electric utility systems.
🎯 Requirements
- • BS in Engineering, preferably electrical or computer engineering
- • 2+ years of experience developing relay settings and protection philosophies for transmission, sub-transmission, or distribution equipment including transmission lines, transformers, bus, breaker control, capacitor banks, and distribution feeders
- • 2+ years of experience applying electrical engineering theories and principles
