- • Serve as the architectural leader for a large-scale federal civilian system modernization effort, guiding the development, maintenance, and implementation of a future-state solution architecture and roadmap to meet mission and operational objectives.
- • Coordinate with customers, stakeholders, program functions, and technical teams to understand needs and capability gaps, then develop associated architectural vision and solution strategies.
- • Design and own end-to-end solution architecture that is secure, robust, flexible, and efficient, defining system boundaries, interfaces, dependencies, and data flows.
- • Develop and maintain a target architecture and technology roadmap aligned with evolving customer requirements and operational needs.
- • Integrate system architecture considerations across the entire system lifecycle, including sustainment, operations and maintenance (O&M) cost optimization, and lifecycle cost estimation.
- • Lead structured analysis of alternatives and trade studies to resolve architectural disputes among diverse stakeholder groups using formal decision frameworks.
- • Define concept of operations, procedures, and tools required to enable delivery of products and services, incorporating human factors, human-system integration, and organizational change into implementation planning.
- • Govern architecture compliance across projects and change management processes by establishing and maintaining an architecture governance framework, including review processes and standards.
- • Provide architectural review of engineering deliverables and packages to ensure alignment with defined frameworks, guidance, and best practices.
- • Create, maintain, and present authoritative architecture deliverables to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership and cross-functional teams, to foster shared understanding and secure buy-in.
- • Develop comprehensive technical documentation and briefing materials to support engineering, operations, and program planning efforts, ensuring all artifacts are accurate, current, and accessible.
- • Collaborate directly with PMO and Program Leadership to integrate architecture into budget planning, contract strategy, and vendor management approaches.
- • Conduct prototype or pilot efforts to validate solution approaches before enterprise-scale rollout.
- • Mentor engineering teams on architectural patterns, emerging technologies, and solution engineering best practices.
- • Apply knowledge of federal government IT requirements, including cybersecurity risk management processes and controls, to architecture design and implementation.
- • Demonstrate strong engineering background with expertise in at least three of the following: software design and development, software delivery and operations, system engineering, cybersecurity engineering and assurance, infrastructure services and operations, cloud infrastructure and services.
- • Support system verification activities and ensure architectural practices are aligned with formal enterprise and system engineering methodologies.
- • Lead the development of common technical architecture documentation artifacts and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
🎯 Requirements
- • Active Secret clearance or higher
- • 12+ years of professional experience with five or more years of architecture experience
- • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field (four years of professional experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree)
- • Strong customer and stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated success in facilitating solution architecture design and planning
- • Experience partnering directly with PMO/Program Leadership to integrate architecture into budget planning, contract strategy, and vendor management
- • Strong engineering background with expertise in at least three of: software design and development, software delivery and operations, system engineering, cybersecurity engineering and assurance, infrastructure services and operations, cloud infrastructure and services
