📋 Description

• As Engineering Manager for Cohere's verticals application team, you will lead engineers building full-stack applications that bring AI into critical sectors like pharmaceuticals, finance, and healthcare, ensuring reliable, observable, safe, and auditable systems in high-stakes environments.
• Day to day, you will lead and manage backend and frontend engineers, act as the primary interface between Product and Engineering teams, transform product requirements into a technical roadmap, design and ship scalable features, contribute across the stack, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Cohere is a global, security-first enterprise AI company co-headquartered in Toronto and San Francisco, with offices in Berlin and other major cities, building foundation models and end-to-end products to drive real-world business impact through trusted AI systems.
• In this role, you will grow your technical and leadership expertise by shipping AI-first products integrated with agentic systems, mentoring engineers, influencing cross-functional collaboration, and delivering enterprise-grade software that balances velocity, depth, and quality.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience managing engineering teams with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software
• Experience working with non-technical product managers and strong communication skills in English
• Have built, shipped, and maintained production-ready applications, AI-first applications
• Strong coding ability and comfort working across the full stack (backend and frontend)
• Experience deploying cloud-based and on-prem applications
• High agency — proactive problem-solving without waiting for permission
