- • Own and scale one or more cross-functional product engineering teams (8-12 engineers) that ship high-impact features for 100,000+ brands on the Maze platform. You will set technical direction, unblock delivery, and ensure every release meets our bar for quality, speed, and user value.
- • Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with Product Managers and Designers to translate ambitious product strategy into an executable roadmap. You will run quarterly planning, break epics into iterative slices, and continuously re-prioritize based on customer feedback and data.
- • Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of AI-powered research capabilities—from participant recruitment to insight generation—ensuring our systems remain reliable as we process 6.5 million research questions per year and support 25,000 product decisions.
- • Establish and evolve engineering practices that scale across a fully remote, globally distributed organization. This includes defining coding standards, testing strategies, on-call rotations, and documentation habits that keep velocity high without burning people out.
- • Coach engineers at every level—from new grads to staff engineers—through weekly 1:1s, career road-mapping, and actionable feedback loops. You will identify growth opportunities, sponsor under-represented talent, and build succession plans so teams can double in size without losing culture.
- • Lead hiring and onboarding for your teams, owning job descriptions, interview loops, and a 90-day ramp plan that gets new teammates productive and connected. You will collaborate with recruiting to hit aggressive head-count goals while maintaining our high talent bar.
- • Step into the fire during incidents or high-stakes launches, providing calm technical leadership and transparent communication to stakeholders. You will run blameless post-mortems and turn every failure into a durable process improvement.
- • Contribute to Maze’s technical strategy by working with peer Engineering Managers and Staff+ engineers on architecture reviews, investment proposals, and long-term platform bets—such as scaling our real-time analytics pipeline or internationalizing the participant network.
