📋 Description

• Lead and grow a team of engineers focused on improving developer experience, platform infrastructure, and CI/CD systems across Abridge’s AI-powered healthcare platform.
• Own end-to-end developer workflows—from local development to deployment and observability—identifying and eliminating friction to accelerate engineering velocity.
• Drive measurable improvements in developer productivity using metrics such as build times, deployment frequency, and onboarding duration.
• Partner with product engineering, security, and other cross-functional teams to reduce friction in the software delivery lifecycle while maintaining high standards for reliability and security.
• Evaluate, adopt, and integrate AI-powered development tools (e.g., code generation, debugging, testing) into daily engineering workflows to enhance code quality and operational efficiency.
• Translate strategic priorities into actionable execution plans for platform initiatives, including cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, and internal systems.
• Provide technical leadership in architecture and design discussions; remain hands-on with systems even if not coding daily, guiding teams through complex infrastructure challenges.
• Build and scale engineering teams by participating in hiring, maintaining a high bar for talent, and evolving recruitment processes to attract top platform and DevOps engineers.
• Mentor and support engineers in their career growth, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, accountability, and developer empathy—treating internal engineers as customers.
• Implement strong operational practices including sprint planning, prioritization, and stakeholder communication to ensure consistent delivery in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Lead the adoption of modern infrastructure tooling such as Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Istio, and Atmos to improve system reliability and developer ergonomics.
• Ensure all platform systems are designed with security, auditability, and compliance in mind, given Abridge’s mission in healthcare and real-time clinical documentation.
• Embed AI deeply into the development lifecycle to reshape how engineers build software, with a focus on accelerating productivity without compromising safety or quality.
• Maintain a strong focus on developer experience across all stages of the software lifecycle, continuously optimizing tooling, feedback loops, and internal documentation.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to scope and deliver platform capabilities that enable fast, reliable, and AI-augmented software delivery at scale.
• Act as a force multiplier by reducing cognitive load for engineers, streamlining processes, and enabling teams to focus on high-impact work.
• Champion Abridge’s mission to improve healthcare through responsible AI, ensuring all technical decisions align with the needs of clinicians and patients.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience in rapidly growing organizations
• Experience leading and growing teams of engineers, including hiring and performance management
• Strong execution mindset with the ability to scope work, prioritize effectively, and deliver results
• Experience building and evolving platform systems that improve developer velocity and system reliability, including cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, and CI/CD systems
• Experience using metrics to drive improvements in developer productivity (e.g., DORA metrics, build times, deployment frequency, onboarding time)
• Familiarity with production systems in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or similar)
