- • Lead a distributed team of 8–10 senior software engineers responsible for building and evolving the core card spending experience within the Spend domain at Perk.com.
- • Act as a servant leader, adapting your management style to support individual growth, performance, and career development through coaching and mentoring.
- • Own the delivery of high-impact, complex initiatives in a fast-moving environment, balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term platform sustainability and maintainability.
- • Champion technical excellence by ensuring the team has the time, context, and resources to build systems that meet organizational standards for quality, scalability, and reliability.
- • Enable effective collaboration within the team and provide guidance on system architecture, design, and implementation challenges.
- • Develop and evolve a long-term technical roadmap for the Cards Experience team in close partnership with the Product Manager and alignment with the Tribe mission.
- • Drive strategic team building and planning to deliver highly available, scalable features that support Perk’s growth across Europe.
- • Play a key role in recruiting, onboarding, and growing the engineering team, ensuring alignment with technical and cultural needs.
- • Use business and team metrics to deliver a 7-star customer experience, understanding how engineering outcomes directly impact product and business goals.
- • Provide feedback to internal stakeholders in Product and Engineering, and occasionally to wider business teams, to ensure alignment and transparency.
- • Operate with pragmatism and an obsession for simplicity, efficiency, and performance in both technical and organizational problem-solving.
- • Navigate a specialized domain involving card infrastructure, banking integrations, and complex funds flows, even without deep prior payments domain expertise.
- • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and evolving business requirements while maintaining team focus and engineering quality.
- • Foster a high-performing engineering culture that improves the working lives of team members and encourages ownership, curiosity, and purpose.
- • Be based within commuting distance of Perk’s Barcelona hub, as the role requires in-person collaboration 3 days per week.
- • Communicate fluently in English, as it is the official language of the office.

- • 5–8 years of experience managing software engineers
- • Managed teams of 8–10 software engineers
- • Technical background as a former hands-on software engineer
- • Experience building processes and systems of delegation for larger engineering teams
- • Proven ability to conduct effective performance reviews that align with individual aspirations and business needs
- • Pragmatic approach focused on simplicity, efficiency, and performance
