📋 Description

• Lead the Mobile AI engineering team to build and evolve Notion’s core mobile AI surfaces, including chat, capture, agent workflows, workspace Q&A, and lightweight creation flows.
• Drive new mobile AI product ideas from initial exploration through to shipped features, using prototypes, user feedback, and product data to prioritize and validate development direction.
• Identify and resolve instrumentation gaps, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks in mobile AI systems before they impact users.
• Establish and strengthen the technical foundations that enable fast, cross-platform iteration across mobile, web, and server environments.
• Maintain hands-on technical leadership by guiding architecture, performance, reliability, and release-quality decisions; make small code contributions when necessary to unblock progress.
• Recruit, coach, and grow engineering talent, fostering an inclusive team culture and clear communication through disagreement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and data teams to define problems, align on goals, and deliver polished, user-centered AI experiences.
• Translate ambiguous product opportunities into clear strategies, sequencing plans, staffing models, and delivery timelines.
• Ensure mobile AI experiences are optimized for real-time, on-the-go usage scenarios such as capturing ideas, asking questions between meetings, or moving work forward away from a desk.
• Maintain high standards for production quality, including offline resilience, real-time collaboration, rich-text editing, app performance, and release quality at scale.
• Stay actively engaged with AI tools and trends, understanding how AI transforms product development, engineering workflows, and user expectations.
• Support 0→1 product development and rapid iteration on new mobile AI surfaces, with a focus on streaming UX, tool use, evaluation loops, and reliability guardrails.
• Work in-person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays as designated Anchor Days, with potential for additional in-office days based on team or role requirements.

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years managing engineering teams and shipping high-quality products at scale
• Hands-on technical leadership with ability to guide architecture, performance, and release decisions
• Experience with AI product development and curiosity about how AI changes user workflows and engineering practices
• Proven ability to execute through ambiguity by turning open-ended product bets into clear delivery plans
• Strong people leadership skills including recruiting, coaching, and building inclusive teams
• Cross-functional leadership experience working with product, design, and data teams
