  • • Lead and manage a team of 8–10 software engineers focused on the Payments Inbound and Outbound Platform, ensuring delivery of reliable, scalable, and auditable financial infrastructure that processes millions of dollars daily.
  • • Act as a servant leader by adapting your management style to support individual growth, team dynamics, and organizational needs, fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and high performance.
  • • Drive the personal and professional development of engineers through coaching, mentoring, and structured performance reviews that align individual aspirations with business objectives.
  • • Serve as a technical champion by ensuring the team has the context, time, and resources to build systems that meet Perk’s standards for reliability, security, compliance, and performance.
  • • Collaborate closely with Product Managers to develop and evolve a long-term technical roadmap aligned with the Tribe’s mission, prioritizing features that enhance customer experience and business impact.
  • • Build and refine processes for delegation, escalation, and cross-team coordination to enable efficient delivery at scale across global operations.
  • • Lead recruitment efforts to grow the engineering team, identifying and attracting talent that aligns with Perk’s values and technical demands.
  • • Ensure systems are fault-tolerant, auditable by design, and compliant with financial regulations, addressing the high-stakes nature of payments processing where errors have real financial consequences.
  • • Work with business and engineering metrics to deliver a 7-star experience to customers, translating product and business needs into technical priorities.
  • • Champion the adoption of AI-augmented development workflows, encouraging the team to leverage agentic systems and develop custom AI capabilities to improve efficiency and innovation.
  • • Navigate complex technical challenges at the intersection of payments orchestration, PSP integrations, credit card issuing, fraud prevention, and financial reconciliation.
  • • Provide clear, actionable feedback to stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and broader business units to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • • Maintain a pragmatic focus on simplicity, efficiency, and performance, eliminating unnecessary complexity in both code and processes.
  • • Respond rapidly to evolving business requirements, regulatory changes, and technical risks while maintaining system stability and operational excellence.
  • • Operate within an IRL-first work model, collaborating in-person at the Barcelona office three days per week to enhance connectivity, creativity, and team cohesion.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5–8 years of experience managing software engineers
  • • Managed teams of 8–10 software engineers
  • • Technical background as a hands-on software engineer
  • • Experience building effective engineering cultures and processes at scale
  • • Proven ability to conduct performance reviews that drive growth and alignment
  • • Experience with or strong interest in AI-augmented development workflows, including agentic systems
