Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Shape the future of fintech in Europe as Coins.ph scales from Southeast-Asian leader to global powerhouse. You will be the single point of legal truth for our EU expansion, translating dense regulatory text into clear, profitable product road-maps that unlock new markets for millions of users.
- • Own the end-to-end licensing strategy for Electronic Money Institution (EMI) and Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorisations under MiCA in France, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany. Map regulator expectations, draft gap analyses, design remediation plans and quarterback submissions so that business timelines stay on track and capital is deployed efficiently.
- • Translate MiCA, PSD2, EMD2/3 and SEPA rules into plain-English playbooks that product managers, engineers and compliance officers can execute without second-guessing. Your memos become the specs for new wallet features, stable-coin issuance flows and on-ramp/off-ramp corridors.
- • Monitor enforcement trends and policy consultations across the four target jurisdictions. Provide rapid-fire briefings to the CEO Office when draft guidance threatens existing models or creates new opportunities, ensuring Coins is always first to market with compliant innovations.
- • Draft, negotiate and close commercial contracts with banking partners, liquidity providers, card schemes and crypto custodians. Balance risk allocation, liability caps and indemnities so that business development can sign deals faster without exposing the group to regulatory or reputational blow-ups.
- • Build and maintain relationships with national competent authorities, central banks and the European Banking Authority. Represent Coins at industry round-tables and public hearings, turning regulatory dialogue into competitive advantage.
- • Run cross-functional war-rooms ahead of licence interviews and on-site inspections. Coach finance, risk, engineering and customer-support teams so that every answer aligns with the regulatory narrative you have crafted.
- • Design scalable legal templates, policies and training modules that can be cloned into additional EU markets as the company grows beyond the initial four countries, saving future legal spend and accelerating time-to-market.
- • Partner with Group Compliance to embed regulatory requirements into product backlogs, ensuring that KYC, AML and consumer-protection obligations are coded into user journeys from day one rather than retro-fitted later.
- • Track licence maintenance milestones—own funds calculations, safeguarding audits, management-body fit-and-proper renewals—so that authorisations remain evergreen and expansion capital is never stranded.
- • Provide ad-hoc support to M&A, fundraising and strategic-partnership workstreams, conducting legal due diligence and drafting disclosure schedules that satisfy both investors and regulators.
- • Champion a culture of pragmatic risk-taking: celebrate smart experiments that stay within the regulatory perimeter while flagging moon-shots that could trigger enforcement or licensing delays.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3-5 years PQE as a regulatory or fintech lawyer at a top-tier law firm or fast-growth payments/crypto company
- • Deep, hands-on knowledge of EU frameworks: PSD2, EMD2/3, MiCA, SEPA and crypto-asset rules
- • Track record of leading or materially contributing to EMI, CASP or VASP licensing projects
- • Exceptional analytical and communication skills—able to distill 200-page regulatory texts into crisp, actionable guidance
- • Comfortable working remotely across multiple time zones and engaging cross-functional teams (product, compliance, finance, engineering)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote role with flexible hours across France, Netherlands, Luxembourg or Germany
- • Front-row seat at the intersection of crypto innovation and EU policy-making
- • Competitive compensation package benchmarked to top-tier law-firm rates plus equity upside
- • Annual learning stipend and budget for attending key EU regulatory conferences and policy forums
