Our cutting-edge technology alleviates the administrative burden on providers, allowing them to dedicate more time to patient interaction and high-impact work. We provide real-time, coding-aware documentation and clinical workflow support across various healthcare settings, including ambulatory, emergency, and inpatient environments, serving top health systems in North America.
- • At Ambience, our teams embody extreme ownership, relentlessly pursuing the best solutions for our partners. We foster a culture of candor, positivity, and deep thought, holding ourselves to high standards because we understand the profound importance of the problems we are solving. Our commitment to innovation and impact has earned us recognition, including being ranked #1 for Improving the Clinician Experience by KLAS Research, named one of Fast Company's Next Big Things in Tech, recognized by Inc. as one of the best AI companies in healthcare, and selected as a LinkedIn Top Startup for both 2024 and 2025. We are proudly backed by leading investors such as Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), OpenAI Startup Fund, and Kleiner Perkins, and our journey of growth and innovation is just beginning.
- • As the Executive Search Lead, based in San Francisco, CA, and reporting to the VP of People & Talent, you will be instrumental in shaping the future leadership of Ambience. This pivotal role is responsible for owning executive-level hiring for the Office of the President and CEO. You will be tasked with designing the entire executive search process from the ground up, personally sourcing and engaging top-tier candidates, strategically managing relationships with external search firms, and expertly driving closing motions. This will be accomplished in close, collaborative partnership with the CEO, President, and VP of People & Talent.
- • This is a unique opportunity to build Ambience's executive hiring capability from its foundational architecture. You will establish the processes, cultivate essential relationships, develop a robust talent pipeline, and refine closing strategies. The nature of executive search is demanding, often requiring unpredictable hours and a commitment that extends beyond a traditional 9-to-5 schedule. This role is ideally suited for an individual who thrives in ambiguous environments, operates with speed and precision without compromising quality, and approaches every search with an unwavering commitment to excellence, recognizing that their reputation is on the line.
- • In return for your dedication and expertise, you will gain unparalleled access and influence. You will partner directly with the CEO and President on critical hires that will define the company's trajectory. You will have complete ownership of a function you will build and shape according to your vision, with the clear expectation that your approach will yield exceptional results. This level of access, scope, and influence is rare in the executive search field, particularly within a rapidly growing company operating in such a critical sector. If you are driven to make a significant, lasting impact and leave your mark on a pioneering organization, this role is for you.
- • The ideal candidate will possess the ability to operate effectively at all levels, seamlessly transitioning between strategic design and hands-on execution within the same day. You will demonstrate relentless execution, take end-to-end ownership of outcomes, and communicate with exceptional clarity, both in writing and in person. Proactive and self-directed, you will drive initiatives to completion through challenges and ambiguity, motivated by an intrinsic drive for results rather than external oversight. You are a problem-solver who identifies and rectifies issues, brings structure to ambiguity, and consistently drives projects forward.
- • Your key accomplishments will include designing comprehensive search architectures, including MOCs, scorecards, and interview processes, for every executive and Officer of the President (OOTP) role, thereby introducing structure and rigor to areas of potential ambiguity before sourcing commences. You will personally undertake the sourcing, research, and engagement of executive-level candidates, managing the full-cycle process from initial contact through candidate activation. This is a deeply hands-on role, emphasizing direct involvement rather than delegation.
- • You will be responsible for selecting, engaging, and managing external search firms, leveraging VC talent partners, and cultivating professional networks, overseeing all associated relationships, communications, and performance evaluations. You will maintain a high standard for external partners and be prepared to withdraw a search if performance is not meeting expectations. Furthermore, you will proactively build and maintain a passive talent pipeline by mapping the market, nurturing relationships, and identifying high-caliber talent for executives even before specific roles become available.
- • You will design and execute sophisticated closing strategies in collaboration with the VP of People & Talent, CEO, and President, ensuring a compelling and well-orchestrated closing process for every executive hire. Additionally, you will provide critical market intelligence on executive talent trends, compensation benchmarks, and the competitive landscape, proactively surfacing essential insights for leadership without being prompted.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of experience in executive recruiting or executive search, with a proven track record of personally sourcing and closing senior-level roles.
- • Demonstrated experience in designing end-to-end executive search processes, including the development and implementation of structured evaluation frameworks.
- • A strong history of successfully managing external search firm relationships, holding them to high performance standards, and driving successful outcomes.
- • A robust network within the technology, AI/ML, or healthcare sectors, or a demonstrated ability to rapidly build such a network.
- • The capacity to operate as a credible peer to C-suite executives, fostering trust and collaboration beyond a transactional recruiter relationship.
- • Comfort and proven ability to manage multiple high-stakes executive searches concurrently with composure, discipline, and a focus on detail.
- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of briefing a CEO, crafting compelling outreach messages, and producing sharp written assessments efficiently.
- • Experience in high-growth startup environments is strongly preferred. Backgrounds in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital are considered a plus.
- • Altitude flexibility: the ability to both design high-level strategy and execute on the necessary tasks, embodying the 'wear every hat' mentality common in early-stage companies.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for employees and their dependents.
- • 401(k) retirement savings plan with a company match of up to 3% of base salary.
- • A remote-friendly work culture, supported by full equipment provisioning to enable effective work from any location, alongside a San Francisco headquarters.
- • Generous parental leave policy to support employees during significant family milestones.
- • Opportunities for professional development and growth through annual company-wide off-sites, team off-sites, and regular team-building activities like lunches and all-hands meetings, with travel, lodging, and meals covered.
- • Flexible time off policy with no annual cap, complemented by company-wide holidays and an annual holiday shutdown period from December 24th to January 1st to encourage genuine rest and long-term sustainability.
