- • Design and build scalable APIs, services, and frontend features across Jimdo’s product portfolio to enable business, product, and engineering teams to deliver impact quickly.
- • Jump between multiple codebases and domains as needed, rapidly understanding context and unblocking critical projects without long-term team attachment.
- • Ship high-quality, maintainable code that balances pragmatic solutions with long-term system sustainability across both frontend and backend systems.
- • Collaborate closely with staff engineers, product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement solutions that create visible, user-centered impact.
- • Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code to accelerate development while maintaining code quality and architectural integrity.
- • Proactively identify technical gaps, edge cases, and systemic risks in existing systems and drive pragmatic, impactful improvements.
- • Work independently on projects of varying complexity—from minor bug fixes to large-scale initiatives—and see them through from conception to deployment.
- • Share knowledge and best practices with teams you support, reducing onboarding friction and increasing overall team velocity while keeping overhead low.
- • Provide clear, honest, and timely feedback and status updates to stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and predictable delivery.
- • Apply deep expertise in REST APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred) to design and optimize system architecture.
- • Utilize modern engineering practices including Spring Boot for backend services, Terraform for infrastructure automation, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines.
- • Maintain a flexible, autonomous work style that thrives in a remote-first, cross-functional environment with frequent context switching and minimal process overhead.
- • Contribute to system-level thinking by evaluating trade-offs, anticipating scalability challenges, and ensuring technical decisions align with business outcomes.
- • Engage in knowledge transfer and mentorship activities to elevate the technical capabilities of broader engineering teams without formal managerial authority.
- • Balance speed and quality by applying a pragmatic, impact-driven mindset that prioritizes solving the most critical problems over theoretical perfection.
- • Operate effectively in a globally distributed team of 220+ engineers from 50+ nationalities, adapting communication and collaboration styles to diverse cultural and technical contexts.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or technical leadership role.
- • Strong full-stack proficiency (e.g., Kotlin/Java backend, React/JS frontend).
- • Experience with Spring Boot, Terraform, and GitHub Actions.
- • Deep experience with REST APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- • Proven ability to quickly understand new domains, systems, and codebases and make meaningful contributions with minimal onboarding.
