📋 Description

• As a Software AI Engineer Mid-Level at WEX Inc., you will be a hands-on developer building and maintaining the core software components that power the company’s AI and context infrastructure, specifically the 'Context Layer' that connects enterprise data to LLMs to ensure AI agents have the right information at the right time.
• Day to day, you will implement and maintain core services for the AI Data Lakehouse, build and support CI/CD pipelines for AI model and infrastructure deployment, develop and test tool-execution environments for AI agents to interact safely with internal systems, participate in on-call rotations for platform reliability, work on Context Retrieval using RAG patterns, and assist in managing cloud resources across AWS and Azure for cost-effectiveness and security.
• You will join a team focused on operationalizing AI at scale, working within an agile environment that values high-quality code, automated delivery, and cloud-native systems to support enterprise AI agents.
• In this role, you can deepen your expertise in AI infrastructure, gain hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, vector databases, and emerging protocols like Model Context Protocol (MCP), while strengthening your skills in Python, Java/Scala, API development, IaC with Terraform, and CI/CD automation.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong proficiency in Python and either Java or Scala, with ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs or gRPC services
• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure Management Consoles, including managing IAM, S3/Blob, and compute instances
• Basic experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
• Basic understanding of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor
• Familiarity with LLM concepts and frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, including experimentation with RAG-based applications
• Interest in learning and implementing emerging standards like Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Basic understanding of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus) and their role in AI search performance
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
