FedRAMP Site Reliability Engineer (FedSRE) - CloudVision

📋 Description

• • Own the reliability and performance of Arista’s FedRAMP-authorized CloudVision-as-a-Service (CVaaS) at planet-scale. You will be entrusted with a multi-region, multi-tenant SaaS platform that processes billions of network telemetry events per minute for Fortune-500 and public-sector customers who cannot afford a second of downtime.
• • Architect and harden the NetDL data platform that ingests, enriches, and stores petabytes of streaming telemetry. You will tune columnar stores, optimize Kafka partitions, and craft Golang/Python services that cut query latency from seconds to milliseconds while staying within FedRAMP High impact-level boundaries.
• • Drive capacity planning and autoscaling strategies that keep us 30 % under budget during troughs and scale 10× in under five minutes during traffic spikes. You will build predictive models in BigQuery and implement HPA/VPA policies in GKE so that every pod is right-sized and every dollar is traceable.
• • Design and rehearse disaster-recovery playbooks that prove we can lose an entire GCP region and still hit <15-minute RTO and <5-minute RPO. You will lead quarterly game-days, inject controlled chaos with ChaosMesh, and automate evidence collection for FedRAMP continuous monitoring.
• • Build world-class observability that turns raw logs, metrics, and traces into actionable insight. You will extend our Prometheus-Thanos stack, write PromQL/LogQL SLIs, and surface golden signals in Grafana dashboards that executives and customers actually read.
• • Champion change management and CI/CD safety. You will extend our Argo CD/GitOps pipeline with policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper), progressive delivery (Argo Rollouts), and automated canary analysis so every release is boring and reversible.
• • Secure everything by default. You will embed security controls into Terraform/Pulumi modules, enforce CIS benchmarks with Forseti, and coordinate with ISSOs to translate NIST 800-53 controls into living code.
• • Participate in a humane, follow-the-sun on-call rotation split between West- and East-coast teams. You will join a blameless culture where post-mortems focus on systems, not people, and every alert you receive is an opportunity to eliminate toil.
• • Mentor junior engineers and write crisp design docs that turn tribal knowledge into shared architecture. You will run internal tech talks, contribute to our open-source repos, and help shape the SRE charter for the next phase of Arista’s cloud journey.
• • Collaborate daily with product managers, software engineers, and customer-success teams to translate customer pain into elegant engineering solutions. Your work will directly influence the roadmap of a product growing 100 % year-over-year.
