Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of Turbopuffer’s in-person event presence including conferences, meetups, dinners, booths, and after-parties across the US and Canada.
  • • Plan and maintain a long-term event calendar, selectively choosing high-impact events and discontinuing those that don’t deliver measurable value.
  • • Manage all logistical aspects of events: budgeting, venue booking, booth design, staffing, swag production, catering, and post-event follow-up.
  • • Design and host intimate meetups and dinners for both external prospects and internal team members (“puffers”), ensuring seamless execution and memorable experiences.
  • • Collaborate directly with designers to develop branded event assets including booths, promotional swag, signage, and other physical materials aligned with Turbopuffer’s hardcore and whimsical brand.
  • • Define and track both quantitative and qualitative KPIs for all events—including attendance, lead quality, pipeline generation, and attendee sentiment—to measure ROI and optimize future planning.
  • • Build and maintain relationships with venues, vendors, and local contacts to secure premium experiences at scale and negotiate cost-efficient partnerships.
  • • Act as the primary point of contact for event coordination across the tight-knit growth team, ensuring alignment with broader marketing and sales objectives.
  • • Operate with high autonomy: identify gaps, make decisions quickly, and execute without waiting for approval on minor details.
  • • Embrace a scrappy mindset—prioritize action over perfection, booking venues today rather than waiting for ideal conditions.
  • • Leverage existing networks in developer and engineering communities to identify high-value events and partners that align with Turbopuffer’s technical audience.
  • • Ensure all event experiences reflect Turbopuffer’s core values: overstepping rather than understepping, showing rather than telling, earning complexity, and being an extension of the customer’s team.
  • • Adapt event tone and execution to balance the company’s dual brand identity: technically hardcore yet playfully whimsical in presentation and delivery.
  • • Travel approximately 50% of the time outside of NY/SF, requiring flexibility and sustained energy for on-the-road event execution.
  • • Translate feedback from engineers and technical attendees into actionable improvements for future event formats and messaging.
  • • Maintain detailed records of vendor performance, attendee demographics, and conversion metrics to inform strategic decision-making.
  • • Anticipate logistical challenges before they arise and resolve them proactively during live events with minimal disruption.
  • • Ensure all event materials reflect consistent brand voice and visual identity across all touchpoints, from invitation emails to booth graphics to napkin designs.
  • • Represent Turbopuffer authentically at every interaction, creating moments that stick in attendees’ minds long after the event ends.
  • • Continuously refine the event playbook based on real-world outcomes, not assumptions or industry norms.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Operator – you can run a 16-person dinner and a 512-person happy hour with the same precision
  • • Numerate – share quantifiable results from our events
  • • Taste – you have strong opinions about brand, copy, and partners
  • • Scrappy – you'd rather book the venue today than wait for the perfect plan
  • • Networked – you know the venues & vendors that make for the best events
  • • Independent – you figure things out without waiting to be told

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Remote role with significant travel opportunities (~50% time on the road)
  • • Autonomy to shape event strategy and execution without bureaucratic delays
  • • Opportunity to influence brand perception through creative, high-impact in-person experiences
  • • Exposure to a tight-knit, values-driven growth team and direct impact on pipeline generation
