- • As a Finance Business Partner for R&D at Notion, you will serve as the primary strategic finance advisor to the CTO and CPO, driving financial planning, forecasting, and decision-making for the Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) organization. This role is critical in ensuring financial transparency and strategic alignment across one of the company’s most important functions, enabling data-driven investment decisions that support innovation and long-term product vision.
- • You will build trusted relationships with EPD leadership by proactively identifying financial risks, opportunities, and variances, and translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that influence executive strategy and resource allocation.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing and maintaining sophisticated financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives such as infrastructure spend, vendor and tooling decisions, and R&D investments, ensuring financial rigor in product roadmap prioritization.
- • You will design and refine scalable reporting and analytical frameworks that increase visibility into EPD performance, improve forecast accuracy, and accelerate decision velocity across engineering, product, and design teams.
- • Preparing high-quality materials for executive and Board-level reviews will be a core function, requiring you to distill complex financial and operational data into concise, compelling narratives that support strategic discussions at the highest levels.
- • You will partner closely with Accounting to ensure accurate and timely financial close processes, provide clear variance explanations, and translate actuals into forward-looking recommendations for functional leaders.
- • Driving process improvements through AI and automation will be key to streamlining workflows, enhancing planning discipline, and strengthening cross-functional alignment in forecasting and reporting.
- • You will execute ad hoc analyses for time-sensitive executive requests with strong judgment, speed, and attention to detail, supporting urgent decisions with precision and reliability.
- • Notion’s culture emphasizes in-person collaboration on Anchor Days (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays), and you will work from the San Francisco office to engage directly with senior leaders and cross-functional partners.

🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, investment banking, accounting, private equity, or a related field, with direct experience supporting technical organizations (R&D) strongly preferred.
- • Strong financial modeling skills using Advanced Excel or Google Sheets, with the ability to handle ambiguity and connect financial outcomes to operational drivers.
- • Exceptional communication and executive presence, including the ability to influence senior leaders through concise, structured storytelling and clear, data-driven recommendations.
