Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Fundwell Inc. is at the forefront of financial technology, dedicated to transforming how businesses access and manage capital. We are fundamentally reshaping the traditional business financing landscape, which is often plagued by convoluted processes, opaque fees, and protracted approval timelines. Our mission is to deliver rapid, transparent, and precisely tailored funding solutions to small and medium-sized businesses across the nation, powered by our proprietary technology, profound industry acumen, and an unwavering commitment to ethical practices. As our platform evolves, we are expanding our offerings beyond core financing to encompass receivables, payables, and embedded payments, thereby empowering businesses with enhanced control over their cash flow dynamics.
- • We have developed a robust financial model that comprehensively covers critical areas including the origination funnel, portfolio outstanding, payoff curves, payment waterfall, warehouse and mezzanine facilities, P&L, headcount, and cash flow projections over a 22-month horizon. Our immediate need is for an experienced professional who has previously operated at a high level in this domain. The ideal candidate will be capable of elevating a founder-built model to a standard that satisfies warehouse lenders' credit committees without requiring further clarification or follow-up questions. This role is specifically designed for individuals who have direct experience presenting and defending financial models to a lender's credit team; candidates without this specific experience will find this engagement unsuitable.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously audit and rigorously stress-test the existing comprehensive Excel financial model. This audit will encompass all its constituent tabs, including origination, portfolio performance, payment waterfall mechanics, warehouse facility operations, P&L statements, and overall cash flow projections. The objective is to ensure formula integrity, maintain cross-tab consistency, and verify economic reasonableness across the entire model.
- • A key aspect of this role involves rebuilding or refining the payment waterfall. This will ensure the accurate modeling of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) cash flows, the precise sequencing of payments according to priority, and the correct calculation of residual distributions. These calculations must be performed under various scenarios, including base case, stress conditions, and covenant breach situations, providing a clear picture of potential outcomes.
- • You will be tasked with validating the intricate mechanics of the warehouse facility. This includes scrutinizing advance rate calculations, ensuring the accuracy of borrowing base certificates, meticulously tracking utilization levels, verifying unused commitment fees, and assessing the constraints imposed by facility capacity. This validation is crucial for ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
- • Building and maintaining a robust covenant compliance tracking system is essential. This system will monitor key performance indicators such as Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR) tests, concentration limits, delinquency triggers, and portfolio performance thresholds. Furthermore, it will incorporate early amortization modeling to proactively identify and address potential risks.
- • A significant part of your contribution will involve sensitizing key assumptions that drive the model's outputs. This includes variables such as collection rates, charge-off rates, factor rates, and Weighted Average Life (WAL). The goal is to produce comprehensive scenario analysis outputs that are clear, concise, and suitable for direct presentation to lender credit committees.
- • You will ensure that the cash flow statement adheres to ASC 230 treatment for specialty lending. This involves correctly classifying loan originations as investing activities, warehouse draws as financing activities, and net income as operating activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- • The final deliverable will be a polished, presentation-ready financial model in Excel. This model will feature clearly defined input tabs for assumptions, a dedicated documentation tab for clarity, and print-formatted summary pages optimized for executive review and lender presentations. Version control and clear formula documentation will be paramount.
- • The projected deliverables include an audited and corrected financial model in Excel (.xlsx) format, complete with version-controlled changes and comprehensive formula documentation. You will also produce pro forma portfolio projections for each distinct product channel: Fundwell RBF, Forbes RBF, and Card MCA (prepaid/interchange). These projections will detail portfolio roll-forwards, collection curves, charge-off waterfalls, and outstanding balances segmented by vintage. Additionally, you will provide detailed assumption documentation and multi-scenario sensitivity tables (covering base, downside, severe, and recovery scenarios). A covenant compliance dashboard, featuring breach scenario analysis and early amortization trigger modeling, will be developed. Finally, a concise one-page model summary, suitable for inclusion in warehouse lender pitch materials, will be created.
