- • As the first dedicated finance hire at Haast Technologies Inc., you will establish the financial foundation for a rapidly scaling VC-backed company operating in the $50B+ enterprise legal and compliance automation market, directly enabling strategic decision-making and sustainable growth.
- • You will serve as a strategic partner to leadership by driving investor reporting, scenario modelling, fundraise preparation, and ad hoc financial analysis that shapes the company’s trajectory, ensuring financial insights are embedded in key business decisions.
- • You will own the financial engine by overseeing payroll, tax compliance, revenue recognition, month-end close, treasury, invoicing, and board reporting in collaboration with the external accountant, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness across all core financial operations.
- • You will design and implement scalable financial systems including billing processes, treasury management, expense workflows, and multi-entity, multi-currency accounting structures that support international expansion without breaking under scale.
- • You will maintain financial hygiene by tracking and allocating every dollar across headcount, R&D, G&A, and COGS, delivering investor-ready cost breakdowns and owning R&D tax incentive claims and cross-border obligations between Australia and the US.
- • You will build and maintain a dynamic FP&A function tied to business drivers, owning Budget vs. Actuals variance analysis to keep the business on track and enable proactive course correction.
- • You will act as the procurement gatekeeper, identifying shadow IT, consolidating duplicate SaaS tools, and enforcing disciplined purchasing practices to prevent unnecessary spend and improve operational efficiency.
- • You will manage foreign exchange risk by optimising currency conversion timing, managing multi-currency cash positions, and making informed hedging decisions as Haast’s revenue and costs span AUD and USD markets.
- • You will join a mission-driven team building one of the first agentic AI systems for enterprise legal and compliance, transforming manual workflows into automated processes that cut review times by 80% and boost productivity 4x — often described as the 'Canva for compliance'.
- • You will work in a hybrid environment from Haast’s Sydney office, collaborating closely with founders and leadership in a high-growth startup where ambiguity is the norm and ownership is expected, offering unparalleled learning and impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • CA or CPA qualification (highly desirable)
- • Big 4 or mid-tier firm background in audit, financial reporting, or transaction services
- • Proven commercial finance experience in a business-facing role, not just advisory
- • Startup or high-growth company exposure with comfort operating in ambiguity and wearing multiple hats
- • Strong systems mindset with experience in Xero and cloud-based finance platforms, continuously seeking process improvements
