- • **Join a Mission-Driven SaaS Leader:** Goodstack is at the forefront of revolutionizing how the world does good. As a fast-growing, Series A social impact startup backed by top-tier investors like General Catalyst (the minds behind Stripe and Airbnb), we are building the technology that empowers global enterprises to seamlessly integrate giving, volunteering, and funding into their operations. Our vision is a world where positive impact is built into everything we do, and we're making it a reality.
- • **Empowering Global Change:** Our unified platform enables companies to make a tangible difference by facilitating donations, volunteer efforts, and corporate social responsibility initiatives. We also support thousands of nonprofits, including renowned organizations like the Red Cross, Cancer Research, and Oxfam, by providing them with cutting-edge technology and access to new funding streams. In 2025 alone, we facilitated over $5 billion in donations, and this is just the beginning of our ambitious journey.
- • **The Opportunity: Finance Controller for Foundation Partners:** We are seeking a highly qualified and detail-oriented Finance Controller to become the primary financial point of contact for our Foundation partners. These Foundations operate as Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs), dedicated to enhancing the efficacy of the charity sector by increasing donor contributions to legitimate charities. They utilize a donor-advised fund model to receive, aggregate, and disburse charitable contributions from both individual and corporate donors to eligible charities recommended at the point of donation.
- • **Key Responsibilities and Impact:**
- • **Financial Liaison & Board Engagement:** Serve as the primary financial liaison for Trustees and Foundation Managers (including the Foundation Company Secretary). You will be responsible for providing clear, accurate, and insightful financial information. This includes preparing and distributing comprehensive financial reports with insightful commentary in advance of quarterly board meetings, and actively participating in these meetings.
- • **Upholding Accounting Excellence:** Ensure all accounting, auditing, and financial reporting activities for the Foundations meet the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and compliance. You will work closely with external bookkeepers in each jurisdiction to maintain these standards.
- • **Strategic Oversight of External Partners:** Manage and nurture relationships with our external accounting and tax firms across multiple key jurisdictions: the UK, US, Australia, Ireland, Canada, and India. Your role will involve ensuring their services consistently align with the specific needs of our Foundations and all relevant regulatory requirements.
- • **Navigating Diverse Compliance Landscapes:** Maintain a deep and current understanding of accounting standards (such as IFRS, GAAP, US GAAP) and tax regulations across the various jurisdictions where our Foundations operate. This ensures all financial activities are fully compliant and robust.
- • **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Foster strong working relationships with internal teams, including Trustees, Nonprofit Operations, and Payment Operations. You will also collaborate closely with external professional service providers, including accounting, tax, and legal firms, to ensure seamless financial operations.
- • **Streamlining Month-End Processes:** Actively assist external accountants with month-end closing queries, ensuring that financial statements are completed accurately and delivered within agreed-upon timelines.
- • **Leading Annual Accounts and Returns:** Spearhead the preparation of annual accounts in collaboration with external providers, ensuring timely delivery to Trustees. You will also manage the submission of annual returns to regulatory bodies such as the Charity Commission (UK), Inland Revenue Services (USA), Canadian Revenue Agency, and the Charity Regulator Authority in Ireland. Additionally, you will provide ad-hoc support to the Chairman for the Australian Charities and Nonprofit Commissioners.
- • **Managing Partner and Payment Operations:** Oversee access to all bank accounts and payment platforms, diligently monitoring balances. You will be responsible for providing statements of accounts upon request from various client partners. Ensure all supplier payments are processed promptly, accurately recorded, and reconciled in a timely manner.
- • **Driving Reconciliation and Accuracy:** Implement and maintain rigorous reconciliation processes for all transactions, ensuring absolute accuracy and timeliness.
- • **Supporting Broader Financial Initiatives:** This role offers the exciting opportunity to contribute to Goodstack's broader financial activities, such as Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), if you have an interest and the relevant skills.
- • **Why This Role is a Perfect Fit:** You are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 3 years of post-qualified experience. You possess a strong foundational understanding of various accounting standards and tax principles. You excel at communicating complex financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders, including Trustees. Your analytical prowess is matched by an exceptional attention to detail, ensuring unwavering accuracy and compliance. You are driven by a process-oriented mindset, constantly seeking to refine workflows for greater efficiency. You thrive in a metrics-driven environment, motivated by achieving SLAs and team targets. Your excellent prioritization skills enable you to expertly manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. You are proficient in Excel and Google Sheets and have experience with accounting and data analytics software. If you have experience with Xero, QuickBooks, an audit background, or have worked within the nonprofit sector or with social impact brands, these would be considered significant advantages. Your passion for making a difference aligns perfectly with our mission to build a better world through technology.
