- • The Financial Reporting Director serves as an authoritative accounting expert for Boston Medical Center, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all external and internal financial reporting functions across the organization.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include leading the consolidated month-end close, managing external audit engagements, overseeing tax compliance (including IRS Form 990s and state filings), preparing Board and Committee financial materials, coordinating bond and CHIA reporting, and serving as a technical accounting resource for complex US GAAP applications.
- • The role operates within the Accounting department at Boston Medical Center, reporting to the VP Controller, and collaborates closely with Treasury, Finance, Development, and Leadership teams to support financial credibility, regulatory compliance, and reporting infrastructure.
- • The person in this role will develop expertise in nonprofit accounting, external audit coordination, tax compliance, and financial reporting systems; they will strengthen internal controls, drive process and technology improvements, and gain visibility into senior leadership and Board-level financial decision-making.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and a minimum of 7 years of related experience in financial reporting, external audit coordination, or tax compliance.
- • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.
- • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as applied to complex financial transactions, consolidated reporting, and nonprofit entities.
- • Proficiency in accounting software systems with ability to apply functionality to financial close, consolidation, and reporting processes.
- • Ability to manage multiple concurrent reporting deadlines (audit, tax, bond, close cycles) and adjust priorities to meet submission timelines.
- • Skill in communicating technical accounting concepts clearly to finance and non-finance audiences, including senior leadership, Board members, and external auditors.
