- • As a Fire Risk Assessor for Capita plc in the South/South East Region, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Defence personnel and property by planning, scheduling, and delivering life safety fire risk assessments (FRAs) across the Ministry of Defence estate, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and supporting Defence’s operational capability through effective risk management.
- • You will work remotely from a home-based location, using MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and Capita’s internal systems to forecast, plan, and manage an ongoing programme of FRA visits, while travelling 2–3 days per week across the South/South East Region to conduct on-site assessments at a diverse range of Defence establishments, with a company-provided vehicle and travel/accommodation expenses covered.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include planning efficient visit programmes that balance workload and travel logistics, managing your time to meet monthly targets, conducting face-to-face briefings with Defence Heads of Establishment and their teams, applying fire safety legislation and Defence-specific policies to deliver accurate FRAs, and issuing timely reports to customers within required timescales.
- • You will join a dedicated team within Capita’s Defence Fire and Rescue division, which is partnering with the UK Ministry of Defence to transform firefighting capabilities through significant investment in modern fire appliances, advanced training technology at the Fire Service College, and a balanced Prevention, Protection, and Response strategy aimed at enhancing safety and operational resilience.
- • In this role, you will develop expertise in applying national fire safety standards within a complex government environment, strengthen your stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills, gain experience managing autonomous workloads under performance targets, and contribute directly to life-saving fire safety outcomes across critical national infrastructure.
🎯 Requirements
- • Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety (e.g., SFJ Level 4 Certificate in Fire Auditors or Fire Risk Assessors, FireQual Level 4 Certificate, ABBE Level 4 Diploma)
- • Practical experience conducting fire risk assessments
- • Competent IT user with proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Teams)
- • Strong communicator, skilled in face-to-face interactions and written reporting via email
- • Well organised and self-motivated, able to plan and manage workload independently without close supervision
- • Target-driven mindset with commitment to meeting or exceeding monthly performance goals
- • Flexibility to travel regularly across the South/South East Region of the UK
