Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Architect, implement, and maintain low-level firmware that drives high-performance memory controllers and system-on-chip (SoC) subsystems, ensuring sub-microsecond latencies and deterministic behavior across PCIe, DDR, LPDDR, and HBM interfaces.
  • • Own the complete firmware life-cycle: gather requirements from hardware, signal-integrity, and validation teams; author clean, MISRA-compliant C/C++ and assembly; peer-review code; and shepherd releases through static analysis, unit testing, hardware-in-the-loop regression, and production sign-off.
  • • Develop robust diagnostic and bring-up software that runs on FPGA prototypes, emulation farms, and early-silicon boards, enabling hardware teams to validate timing, power, and functional coverage long before mass production.
  • • Optimize memory-training algorithms and PHY calibration routines to squeeze every last drop of performance from cutting-edge process nodes (7 nm, 5 nm, and below) while staying within strict thermal and power envelopes for data-center, automotive, and edge-AI markets.
  • • Collaborate daily with RTL designers, verification engineers, and DevOps to define register maps, craft device-tree bindings, and automate continuous-integration pipelines that build, simulate, and deploy firmware images across multiple hardware configurations.
  • • Contribute to open-source host-side tools (Linux kernel drivers, U-Boot, Coreboot, or Zephyr RTOS) that expose memory health metrics, error-correcting-code (ECC) statistics, and dynamic frequency-scaling knobs to system software and cloud orchestration layers.
  • • Debug complex field issues using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, and on-chip trace macros, distilling multi-gigabyte trace captures into concise root-cause analyses and actionable firmware patches delivered over secure OTA channels.
  • • Drive security initiatives—secure boot, firmware signing, side-channel resistance—so that every byte of code you ship meets ISO 26262, IEC 62443, and emerging confidential-computing standards demanded by automotive and cloud customers.
  • • Mentor junior engineers through pair programming, architecture reviews, and lunch-and-learn sessions, raising the bar for code quality, documentation, and test-driven development across the entire firmware organization.
  • • Influence product roadmaps by benchmarking emerging memory technologies (CXL, GDDR7, computational RAM) and presenting data-driven proposals that guide silicon investments and customer-facing feature sets.
  • • Champion remote-first engineering excellence: maintain crystal-clear documentation in Confluence, record concise Loom videos for complex design walk-throughs, and cultivate an asynchronous culture where decisions are transparent, searchable, and inclusive of global time zones.
  • • Deliver customer-facing technical collateral—application notes, reference designs, and training webinars—that empower OEMs and hyperscalers to integrate FortifyIQ IP into everything from autonomous-vehicle ECUs to AI-training clusters.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years shipping production-grade embedded firmware in C/C++ for ARM Cortex-R/M, RISC-V, or equivalent MCUs/SoCs.
  • • Deep understanding of memory technologies (DDR4/5, LPDDR4/5, HBM, GDDR) and their PHY training sequences.
  • • Proven experience with hardware debug tools (JTAG, SWD, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) and version control (Git, Perforce).
  • • Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • • Nice-to-have: contributions to open-source bootloader or RTOS projects, Python scripting for automation, and familiarity with security standards (TPM, secure boot, cryptographic firmware signing).

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours and an annual stipend for home-office upgrades.
  • • Competitive salary plus equity in a fast-growing pre-IPO company backed by top-tier VCs.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental-wellness coverage for you and your dependents.
  • • Annual learning and development budget ($3,000) plus paid attendance at global conferences and workshops.

About FortifyIQ Inc.

FortifyIQ Inc. supplies pre-silicon hardware security verification IP and software tools that let semiconductor and system companies detect side-channel, fault-injection and other physical attack vulnerabilities in cryptographic cores and SoCs before tape-out. Its products include simulation models of common attack scenarios, coverage-driven testbenches and APIs that integrate with standard EDA flows, enabling security sign-off alongside functional verification. The company serves fabless semiconductor firms, defense contractors and IP vendors designing devices for mobile, automotive and IoT markets where certification against standards such as FIPS 140-2, PCI PTS and Common Criteria is required.
