đź“‹ Description

  • • Lyte, Inc. is at the forefront of developing advanced perception systems for Physical AI, designed to operate seamlessly within complex and dynamic environments. Our innovative approach integrates custom silicon, sophisticated sensors, and intelligent software into a cohesive platform, powering the next generation of robotics, mobility solutions, and automation technologies. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with a growing global footprint, Lyte is the place for individuals passionate about building impactful technology in a fast-paced, hands-on setting.
  • • We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Embedded Software, Firmware & Driver Engineer to join our pioneering team. This role is pivotal in building and owning the low-level software that underpins our cutting-edge robotics and Physical AI systems. You will be instrumental in developing software across a diverse array of processors, accelerators, and custom silicon, ensuring robust performance and reliability.
  • • This is a deeply hands-on position for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of hardware and software. Your primary responsibilities will include bringing up new chips, architecting and implementing robust firmware and drivers, and integrating them into production-grade Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) and Linux software stacks. You will engage with a wide spectrum of processing units, including CPUs, Microcontroller Units (MCUs), Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), Neural Processing Units (NPUs), Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), and custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs).
  • • Your work will encompass the entire lifecycle of embedded software development, from initial silicon and board bring-up to the creation of stable, scalable, and production-ready software. A strong emphasis will be placed on ensuring correctness, optimizing for peak performance, guaranteeing reliability, and maintaining high standards of code quality and maintainability.
  • • Key responsibilities include:
  • • Designing, developing, and maintaining embedded firmware and device drivers for a broad range of processors and accelerators such as ARM Cortex-M, Cortex-R, and Cortex-A cores, DSP cores (e.g., Tensilica), NPUs, TPUs, GPUs, and custom hardware accelerators.
  • • Leading the critical chip, System-on-Chip (SoC), and board bring-up processes, guiding them from the very first power-on sequence to full production readiness.
  • • Developing and meticulously maintaining Board Support Packages (BSPs), bootloaders, and other essential low-level system software components.
  • • Writing, testing, and debugging device drivers for a variety of standard and custom hardware interfaces, including I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, PCIe, Ethernet, GPIO, PWM, timers, DMA, watchdogs, and interfaces for sensors, cameras, storage devices, and other custom hardware blocks.
  • • Developing and optimizing firmware for both RTOS-based embedded systems and Linux-based platforms, ensuring seamless integration and efficient operation.
  • • Integrating developed firmware and drivers into the broader production software stack, ensuring compatibility and interoperability.
  • • Diagnosing and resolving complex system-level issues that span across hardware, firmware, kernel, and user-space software layers.
  • • Driving optimizations for critical performance metrics, including latency, memory footprint, power consumption, and overall system reliability.
  • • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, silicon architects, systems engineers, and application developers, to define interfaces, gather requirements, and ensure alignment.
  • • Establishing, promoting, and adhering to industry best practices for embedded software development, including rigorous testing methodologies, comprehensive documentation, and maintaining high code quality standards.
  • • Providing essential support for validation, manufacturing, and field issues, including in-depth root-cause analysis and the implementation of effective fixes.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Physical AI and robotics by building the foundational software that enables groundbreaking hardware. You will be a key contributor to a product that has the potential to revolutionize industries through intelligent automation and advanced perception capabilities. If you are a seasoned embedded engineer with a passion for low-level development and a desire to make a tangible impact, we encourage you to apply.
