Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the design, implementation, and validation of foundational embedded software that powers Latitude’s next-generation safety-critical systems. You will architect and deliver production-grade FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS, and bare-metal environments for both QM (Quality Managed) and ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) applications, ensuring deterministic real-time performance on ARM Cortex-M/R/A and other embedded targets.
  • • Own the complete software lifecycle—from initial requirements capture through ASPICE-compliant design, implementation, unit/integration/HIL testing, and formal verification—so that every line of code meets ISO 26262 functional-safety standards. You will author detailed technical specifications, traceability matrices, safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, DFA), and evidence packages that satisfy both internal quality gates and external audits.
  • • Drive cross-functional collaboration with hardware, systems, controls, cloud, and vehicle-integration teams to define interfaces, memory maps, boot sequences, diagnostic strategies, and cybersecurity mitigations. You will translate high-level vehicle features into low-level software architectures, ensuring seamless communication across CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet-TSN, and secure OTA pipelines.
  • • Champion rigorous engineering practices: static analysis (MISRA-C:2012, CERT-C), dynamic analysis (Polyspace, Coverity), hardware-in-the-loop testing (dSPACE, Speedgoat), and continuous integration pipelines that gate every pull request on code coverage, timing budgets, and stack-usage metrics. You will mentor junior engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions that elevate the entire organization’s embedded competency.
  • • Optimize resource-constrained systems down to the last byte and microsecond: boot times under 200 ms, RAM footprints under 64 kB, interrupt latencies under 5 µs, and power consumption targets compatible with 12 V vehicle supply constraints. You will profile cache behavior, DMA contention, and flash wait-states to squeeze maximum performance from heterogeneous multicore SoCs.
  • • Pioneer new platform capabilities such as secure boot with hardware root-of-trust, fail-operational redundancy, and deterministic update mechanisms that enable zero-downtime firmware upgrades. You will evaluate emerging MCU/MPU roadmaps, influence silicon vendor feature requests, and prototype next-gen architectures that keep Latitude two generations ahead of the industry.
  • • Contribute to open-source initiatives and internal reusable SDKs that accelerate development across multiple product lines. You will package drivers, middleware, and safety libraries into well-documented, unit-tested modules that other teams can integrate with confidence, reducing time-to-market for new vehicle programs.
  • • Participate in customer and regulatory workshops, presenting technical deep-dives on safety concepts, timing analysis, and fault-containment strategies. Your ability to translate complex embedded challenges into clear narratives will directly influence product strategy and customer trust.
  • • Foster a culture of psychological safety and continuous learning. You will lead blameless post-mortems, sponsor internal tech talks, and create onboarding curricula that shorten ramp-up time for new hires. Your leadership will shape Latitude’s reputation as the destination for world-class embedded talent.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 8+ years of professional experience developing production embedded C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M/R/A or equivalent MCUs/MPUs in safety-critical environments (automotive, aerospace, medical, industrial).
  • • Demonstrated expertise in real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar) and bare-metal programming, including linker scripts, bootloaders, interrupt controllers, and memory-protection units.
  • • Hands-on experience applying ISO 26262 (or IEC 61508/DO-178C) across the full V-model: safety planning, hazard analysis, technical safety requirements, software safety requirements, unit/integration testing, and safety validation.
  • • Proficiency with MISRA-C:2012, AUTOSAR Classic, static/dynamic analysis tools, hardware-in-the-loop rigs, and CI/CD pipelines for embedded targets (Git, CMake, Docker, Jira, Jenkins/GitLab).
  • • Nice-to-have: working knowledge of automotive communication stacks (CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet-TSN, SOME/IP, DDS), cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29), and scripting languages (Python, Rust) for tooling and test automation.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours and quarterly in-person engineering summits in top-tier locations worldwide.
  • • Competitive base salary, annual performance bonus, and equity packages that reward long-term impact and company growth.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental-wellness coverage for you and dependents, plus annual learning stipend and hardware refresh budget.
  • • Generous PTO policy (minimum 20 days), paid volunteer days, and end-of-year shutdown so you return refreshed and inspired.
