📋 Description

• As a FIU Compliance Associate on Kraken’s Scale Team, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the company’s responsible global growth by ensuring the Financial Intelligence Unit can scale effectively across new jurisdictions and products while maintaining rigorous AML and regulatory compliance.
• You will lead the optimization of transaction monitoring systems through rule testing, threshold tuning, and the design of new monitoring scenarios to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives, directly supporting Kraken’s mission to build a secure and inclusive crypto ecosystem.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying and driving automation and workflow improvements across FIU processes to increase operational efficiency, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies such as LLMs and AI-enabled tools for alert triage and investigations, and partnering with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to support vendor integrations and monitoring infrastructure enhancements.
• You will collaborate closely with Compliance leadership, including Regional Compliance Officers (RCOs) and Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs), to ensure transaction monitoring frameworks remain well-governed and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations under BSA/AML regimes.
• The role involves supporting FIU scalability by designing processes and monitoring strategies that accommodate expansion into new products, regions, and increased transaction volumes, while contributing to the integration of regtech solutions and compliance technology platforms.
• You will operate within a fully remote, global team of over 70 countries and 50 languages, working alongside industry pioneers committed to crypto innovation, security, and education, and contributing to Kraken’s reputation as a leader in responsible crypto adoption.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in AML, financial crime compliance, or FIU operations, with deep knowledge of transaction monitoring frameworks, suspicious activity detection, and regulatory expectations under BSA/AML regimes
• 3+ years of experience designing, testing, and tuning transaction monitoring rules, including threshold optimization, scenario design, and alert reduction strategies
• Experience working with transaction monitoring systems and compliance tooling, including case management platforms, monitoring infrastructure, and investigative workflows
• Experience driving process optimization or automation initiatives within compliance or financial crime programs to improve operational efficiency and scalability
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with experience using metrics, dashboards, and data analysis to evaluate monitoring effectiveness and improve detection quality
• Experience working in fast-growing fintech, payments, or crypto environments, with the ability to design scalable compliance controls that support new product launches and geographic expansion
