📋 Description

  • • Join SouthState Bank, a financial institution with a rich history of steady growth, deep community roots, and an unwavering commitment to helping customers move forward. We pride ourselves on combining personal relationships with forward-thinking solutions, fostering a culture where individual contributions are recognized, potential is cultivated, and team members are inspired to achieve their greater purpose.
  • • As a FIU Fraud Detection Analyst, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the bank's assets and reputation by meticulously analyzing and investigating potential fraudulent or suspicious activities. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • • Your primary responsibility will involve the analysis, investigation, and disposition of alerts generated by the bank’s automated surveillance monitoring software. This requires a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of financial transaction patterns.
  • • You will conduct in-depth internal investigations and research to identify fraudulent or suspicious transactions. This involves leveraging various reports, alerts, and bank systems to gather evidence, mitigate reputational or financial risks, and determine the necessity of regulatory reporting, such as Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
  • • A key aspect of this role includes performing forensic research using advanced technology and bank systems. This may involve reviewing surveillance footage to pinpoint the root cause of suspicious activities and accurately quantify associated risks and financial exposures.
  • • You will be responsible for processing internal alerts, making critical decisions to either clear alerts or escalate them for further investigation based on your comprehensive analysis of the findings.
  • • Collaboration is essential. You will work closely with internal management to communicate your findings and identify opportunities for improving systems, processes, or procedures. Your insights will help address areas of concern, mitigate vulnerabilities, and strengthen the bank's overall fraud prevention strategies.
  • • You will also collaborate with the Bank's InfoSec department to gain a deeper understanding of how various types of fraud occur, contributing to a more robust and informed fraud detection framework.
  • • In certain situations, you may be required to work with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, providing them with necessary information and support related to fraud investigations.
  • • Meticulous documentation is paramount. You will document all findings within a centralized case management system, ensuring complete and legally compliant records are secured and maintained.
  • • Effective communication extends to internal stakeholders. You will communicate with Bank personnel and management regarding any Customer Due Diligence (CDD) or Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) deficiencies detected during the account monitoring process.
  • • Continuous learning is expected. You must maintain proficiency in all aspects of BSA/AML (Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering) compliance and stay abreast of emerging fraud trends. Attendance at assigned FIU training sessions is mandatory.
  • • Adherence to all SouthState Bank policies and procedures is required, including strict compliance with confidentiality, code of ethics, and BSA/AML/OFAC policies.
  • • This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team and make a tangible impact on the security and stability of a respected financial institution. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 11:30 AM - 8:30 PM EST, providing a structured schedule within a remote work environment.
  • • You will also be involved in various functions within the FIU department, such as case management, project implementation, and other tasks as assigned by the bank’s Chief BSA Officer, offering a broad exposure to financial crime prevention.
  • • The role demands strong research and problem-resolution skills, coupled with excellent customer service abilities to effectively interact with all levels of employees within the bank.
  • • You will be instrumental in identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring the bank remains a trusted partner for its customers and operates with the highest levels of integrity.
