📋 Description

• Support the worldwide coordination of a commercial fleet, ensuring vessel availability and operational continuity across global ports and hubs including Marseille, Le Havre, Hamburg, and Singapore.
• Oversee the maintenance and operational condition of vessels, ensuring full compliance with technical standards and class requirements.
• Act as the owner’s representative onboard and ashore, safeguarding the owner’s interests in all technical and operational matters.
• Contribute to the strategic shift of fleet steering and oversight from external providers back in-house, reducing reliance on third-party services where feasible.
• Apply and enforce standardized shipping business processes and operational tools across the entire fleet to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Provide superintendent-level technical support and follow-up to vessels operating in major international maritime hubs.
• Coordinate with external service providers while progressively strengthening internal control, pilotage, and decision-making capabilities.
• Drive continuous improvement of fleet management practices through the implementation of operational best practices within a maritime-focused organization.
• Work closely with technical, operational, and onboard teams to maintain vessels in full operational readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Operate with high autonomy in a complex, international environment, making independent, business-critical decisions that impact fleet reliability and performance.
• Maintain direct engagement with vessel crews and shore-based teams to ensure alignment on maintenance schedules, repair priorities, and compliance timelines.
• Monitor vessel performance metrics and technical status to proactively identify risks and optimize vessel uptime.
• Participate in the development and refinement of internal procedures to enhance fleet oversight and reduce dependency on external contractors.
• Represent the organization in communications with classification societies, port authorities, and technical vendors across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ensure all fleet activities adhere to international maritime regulations and internal operational policies.
• Contribute to the training and guidance of junior fleet staff as part of building a stronger in-house technical management team.
• Travel regularly to major port hubs to conduct inspections, audits, and on-site coordination with vessel crews and service providers.
• Maintain accurate records of vessel maintenance, repairs, and compliance activities for internal reporting and audit purposes.
• Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of spare parts and technical resources.
• Support the implementation of digital tools and systems to improve fleet monitoring and reporting efficiency.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience in the shipping industry, in technical or operational fleet roles
• Seagoing/onboard experience is indispensable
• Solid understanding of fleet operations and the owner model
• Strong command of shipping business processes and operational tools
• High operational autonomy and the ability to make sound decisions independently
• Demonstrated ability to represent the owner in technical and operational matters
