📋 Description

• As a Forward Deployed Engineer at SewerAI, you will be the critical technical bridge between our AI-powered sewer inspection platform and our customers’ real-world infrastructure systems, ensuring seamless deployment, integration, and operationalization of our technology to drive measurable impact in wastewater management.
• You will own end-to-end technical implementations—from discovery to delivery—managing complex data migrations, ETL workflows, API integrations, and system configurations while translating technical complexity into clear guidance for diverse stakeholders, directly influencing customer success, product adoption, and company growth.
• You will lead technical discovery sessions to deeply understand customer systems, data pipelines, workflows, and constraints, defining scope, timelines, and success criteria while identifying risks related to data quality, compatibility, and workflow complexity in collaboration with Sales, Customer Enablement, and Engineering teams.
• You will drive Professional Services projects from kickoff through final delivery, maintaining detailed documentation of configurations and mappings, coordinating cross-functional timelines and milestones, and ensuring data correctness, system behavior, and usability meet rigorous validation standards before production rollout.
• You will design and execute ETL processes for structured and semi-structured data, write automation scripts in Python/JavaScript/Bash, build ingestion pipelines for files, databases, APIs, and media datasets, and integrate systems using REST APIs, webhooks, AWS (S3, Lambda, IAM), Temporal, Zapier/Celigo, and SQL/CSV/JSON formats.
• You will define field-level data mappings between legacy systems and SewerAI’s platform, reconcile schema differences, handle missing fields, duplicates, inconsistent formats, and schema drift, validate data through sampling and full-scale verification, and troubleshoot mismatches across files, metadata, APIs, and database records.
• You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to customer technical teams and stakeholders, explaining complex concepts in practical terms, recommending implementation approaches based on real-world constraints, pushing back on infeasible solutions with alternatives, and guiding best practices for data structure, workflows, and integrations.
• You will partner with Product, Engineering, Customer Enablement, and Support to build reusable scripts, templates, and playbooks, contribute to internal documentation, provide product feedback from customer use cases, and help scale Professional Services delivery through automation and tooling improvements.
• You will work in a fast-growing, mission-driven environment where your work directly modernizes critical wastewater infrastructure using AI, geospatial analysis, and web technology, enabling municipalities and contractors to turn hours of manual video review into actionable intelligence in minutes.
• You will develop deep expertise in enterprise-scale data integration, customer-facing technical consulting, and Professional Services operations while influencing product evolution through real-world feedback, positioning yourself as a key driver of scalability and innovation in a high-impact climate-tech startup.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Professional Services, Solutions Engineering, Implementation Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role managing end-to-end technical implementations or migrations.
• Proven experience working directly with customers in technical environments, with strong problem-solving skills in ambiguous, real-world situations and clear communication abilities for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Scripting proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Bash, or similar; strong SQL and relational database fundamentals; hands-on experience with ETL workflows, data migration, API/system integrations, and large, inconsistent, or unstructured datasets.
• Comfort working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including S3, Lambda, and IAM; experience automating workflows or data processes; familiarity with orchestration tools like Temporal or similar; and experience using AI code tools to enhance productivity.
