Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Design and build robust ETL/ELT pipelines and data infrastructure to support production AI applications, ensuring high-quality, reliable data availability for client systems
- • Implement end-to-end Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, including data ingestion, text chunking, embedding generation, vector store management, and retrieval optimization using tools like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks
- • Develop and deploy agentic workflows using frameworks such as Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, or equivalent tools, enabling multi-step orchestration, tool use, and planning for LLM-powered applications
- • Build production-grade AI applications on top of modern LLMs (Claude, GPT, open-source models), including chat interfaces, copilots, agent-based automation, and back-office workflow tools
- • Create evaluation suites and guardrails to measure and monitor AI system performance, safety, cost, and latency before and after deployment in client environments
- • Integrate AI components into existing client software ecosystems via REST/GraphQL APIs, event streams, and cloud-native services on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- • Conduct rapid prototyping sprints with clients to deliver demo-able AI solutions within days, then iterate toward fully productionized systems
- • Collaborate directly with client engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders to translate ambiguous business problems into technical AI solutions
- • Document system architectures, share technical learnings, and contribute to NextLink’s internal accelerators and reference implementations to strengthen the broader AI practice
- • Maintain and improve observability for non-deterministic AI systems by writing tests, instrumenting code, and monitoring key metrics in production
- • Work within major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy containerized services, manage secrets, configure IAM policies, and provision infrastructure
- • Participate in client engagements as a forward-deployed engineer, sitting close to the problem space to discover use cases, prototype solutions, harden successful approaches, and ship into live environments
- • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices within NextLink Labs’ AI practice through technical documentation, peer reviews, and async communication
- • Maintain strong written and verbal English proficiency to clearly present technical work to diverse audiences including engineers, product teams, and executives
- • Work as a remote-first contractor with significant daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET) to ensure seamless collaboration with U.S.-based clients and teams
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1 year shipping AI/ML or LLM-based features to production
- • Strong Python skills; comfort with at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or Java for integration work
- • Hands-on experience building applications with modern LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, etc.)
- • Background with data engineering tooling such as dbt, Airflow, Dagster, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks
- • Working knowledge of RAG patterns, embedding models, and at least one vector store (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, OpenSearch, etc.)
- • Solid grasp of one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including deployment of containerized services and management of secrets/IAM
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote-first work environment with a strong culture of written communication (docs, async updates, clear PRs)
- • Investment in professional growth through access to LLM playgrounds, an internal AI guild, and mentorship from senior architects
- • Opportunity to build and shape applied AI solutions at the frontier of the industry with direct client impact
- • Long-term independent contractor role with significant daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET)
- • Work with a technical consulting firm that values clarity, ownership, and outcomes over bureaucracy
