📋 Description

• The Forward Deployment Engineer at Welocalize, Inc. plays a critical role in enabling the Welo Data team to deliver high-quality, ethically sourced AI training datasets by building internal tools and automating workflows that directly impact data processing efficiency and scalability. This role bridges engineering and operations to ensure that data annotation, labeling, and enhancement pipelines run smoothly, reducing manual effort and accelerating time-to-insight for clients developing cutting-edge AI models.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include writing scripts and automation scripts (primarily in Python) to streamline repetitive data workflows, developing and maintaining internal tools that connect disparate systems (such as annotation platforms, storage solutions, and quality control dashboards), monitoring and improving data quality metrics through automated validation checks, collaborating with data annotators, project managers, and AI specialists to identify pain points in current processes, troubleshooting integration issues between tools and APIs, documenting workflows and tool usage for team adoption, and continuously optimizing pipelines for scalability and reliability in a fast-paced AI environment.

The team leverages a curated network of over 500,000 global AI training and domain experts to deliver services spanning annotation, LLM enhancement, data collection, and relevance modeling. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and applied AI, supporting mission-critical workflows that ensure datasets are diverse, scalable, and ethically sourced for clients training next-generation models.
• In this role, the engineer will gain hands-on experience applying software engineering principles to real-world AI data challenges, deepen expertise in scripting, API integration, and workflow automation, develop a strong understanding of AI data lifecycles (from collection to model training), and build tangible impact by improving team efficiency and data quality at scale. The role offers significant growth potential for engineers eager to transition into applied AI or MLOps-adjacent roles while working on meaningful problems that directly influence the performance of AI systems used by major technology firms.
