• • As the Founding DevOps Engineer at Perfect Venue, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our cloud infrastructure and developer platform. This is a unique opportunity to build our entire system from the ground up, defining how everything works without the constraints of legacy systems. You will have end-to-end ownership, making foundational decisions on cloud providers, tooling, and architectural patterns, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security from day one.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to define and implement our infrastructure architecture from scratch. This involves selecting the most appropriate cloud services and technologies to support our growing platform, ensuring it can handle increased load and complexity as we scale.
• • You will be tasked with rebuilding our CI/CD pipeline to be robust, efficient, and scalable. This includes automating build, test, and deployment processes to enable faster iteration cycles and support a growing engineering team. The goal is to create a seamless and reliable deployment experience for our application developers.
• • Owning all infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and environment provisioning is a key aspect of this role. You will leverage tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to define, manage, and version control our infrastructure, ensuring consistency and repeatability across all environments (development, staging, production).
• • Designing our observability strategy is critical. This encompasses establishing comprehensive systems for metrics, logging, and tracing to provide deep insights into application and infrastructure performance. You will also set up effective alerting mechanisms to proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact users.
• • You will establish best practices for reliability, scaling, and incident response. This includes developing clear procedures for handling production incidents, conducting post-mortems, and implementing strategies to minimize downtime and ensure high availability of our services.
• • Security fundamentals will be under your purview. This involves implementing secure practices for secrets management, access control (IAM), and production hardening to protect our platform and sensitive data.
• • A significant part of your role will be partnering closely with application engineers to create a fast, reliable, and productive developer experience. This means understanding their needs and providing them with the tools and environments necessary to build and deploy features efficiently.
• • You will make foundational decisions on cloud strategy, selecting the right cloud provider and services that align with our long-term goals. You will also evaluate and choose appropriate tooling for infrastructure management, monitoring, and automation.
• • While your primary focus will be on DevOps and infrastructure, there will be opportunities to contribute as an application developer when needed, leveraging your background in programming languages like Ruby, Python, and JavaScript to support feature development and bug fixing.
• • This role is not about maintenance; it's about creation and strategic definition. You will have the autonomy to build a modern, efficient, and scalable platform that will be the backbone of Perfect Venue's success as we expand our services and user base.
