- • Build core product features end-to-end, from concept through design, implementation, testing, and production deployment, with responsibility spanning backend and/or mobile/web systems.
- • Take full ownership of high-impact, zero-to-one projects including scoping, technical architecture, execution, and rollout without supervision.
- • Lead critical technical initiatives such as SDK development, network infrastructure improvements, and new product experimentation to unblock key business goals.
- • Ship high-quality, testable, and maintainable code at a rapid pace while maintaining system reliability and performance under scaling conditions.
- • Collaborate directly with leadership and cross-functional teams to define product direction, prioritize initiatives, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- • Drive technical decision-making independently in ambiguous environments with limited documentation and evolving requirements.
- • Contribute to the foundational engineering culture by establishing best practices in code quality, observability, and deployment workflows.
- • Work across multiple technology stacks to solve complex problems, prioritizing impact over tool preference and adapting quickly to emerging technical needs.
- • Act as a key technical contributor in a small, fast-moving team where every line of code directly influences company growth and user engagement.
- • Engage in all phases of the product lifecycle, including prototyping, user feedback loops, A/B testing, and iterative refinement based on real-world usage data.
- • Maintain a strong focus on user impact, ensuring technical solutions align with business outcomes and the mission of rewarding 70+ million users for engagement with advertisers.
- • Communicate technical trade-offs and progress clearly in English to non-technical stakeholders, leadership, and teammates.
- • Demonstrate autonomy in managing time, dependencies, and priorities without micromanagement, consistently delivering results under pressure and tight deadlines.
- • Embrace a high-bar culture for quality, where performance, scalability, and security are non-negotiable even in fast-paced environments.
- • Evolve the engineering roadmap by proposing and advocating for technical innovations that align with Almedia’s goal of becoming Germany’s second bootstrapped unicorn.
- • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure system stability and rapid resolution of production issues.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong experience as a senior or staff-level engineer in product teams
- • Deep hands-on skills in at least one of: backend (e.g. TypeScript/Node), mobile, or frontend
- • Proven zero-to-one experience (early-stage startup, founding engineer, or similar)
- • Track record of owning complex projects and delivering them to production
