- • Build LlamaIndex’s recruiting function from 0 to 1 as the founding Talent Lead, designing and implementing the entire hiring engine for technical and non-technical roles.
- • Own full-cycle recruiting for the company’s most critical and hardest-to-fill roles in AI/ML, infrastructure, full-stack engineering, and developer tools, from sourcing through offer negotiation and close.
- • Design and implement repeatable, high-precision hiring processes including sourcing playbooks, structured interview loops, standardized scorecards, and calibration rituals across all functions.
- • Architect and optimize the modern recruiting stack by configuring, instrumenting, and improving Ashby and AI-powered sourcing tools to ensure a fast, measurable, and high-quality candidate funnel.
- • Enable hiring managers across engineering, product, GTM, marketing, and operations by helping them define roles clearly, calibrate quickly, and run consistent, high-signal interview processes.
- • Establish and lead a data-driven hiring operating rhythm by tracking and acting on key metrics including pipeline volume, conversion rates, time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and hiring velocity.
- • Define and elevate LlamaIndex’s employer brand and candidate experience to attract and convert exceptional passive talent in competitive technical markets.
- • Make strategic build-vs-buy decisions on external agencies and vendor partnerships, including budget management, performance accountability, and scaling support up or down based on hiring needs.
- • Set the standard for responsible AI use in recruiting—leveraging automation to expand reach and speed while maintaining judgment, calibration, and candidate quality as the top priority.
- • Partner with founders and leadership to translate company roadmap and headcount needs into an executable, scalable hiring plan aligned with growth objectives.
- • Serve as the steward of hiring quality and consistency across the organization, ensuring the bar remains high and hiring decisions are data-informed and calibrated.
- • Be physically present in the downtown San Francisco office to absorb company culture, build trust with founders and teams, host candidates in person, and maintain close alignment with engineering and product teams.
- • Maintain strict compliance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance by considering qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
- • Operate with high ownership, grit, and communication skills when engaging with founders, hiring managers, candidates, and external partners.
- • Ensure no unsolicited agency resumes are accepted or processed; all recruitment efforts are conducted internally or through approved channels.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally as an early or founding recruiter at a high-growth startup
- • Strong track record hiring niche technical talent across AI/ML, infrastructure, platform engineering, or developer tools
- • Experience building recruiting infrastructure from scratch: sourcing systems, interview loops, scorecards, calibration rituals, and hiring metrics
- • Comfort operating across functions, from technical hiring to GTM, marketing, and operations roles
- • Fluency with modern sourcing and AI recruiting tools, with strong judgment around quality, signal, and automation
- • High ownership, grit, and communication skills with founders, hiring managers, candidates, and external partners
