📋 Description

• Serve as a Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for clients in the alternative investment industry, including hedge funds, private equity firms, and family offices, providing strategic financial leadership on a project-based basis.
• Deliver targeted financial expertise to support client initiatives such as fund structuring, capital raising, investor reporting, financial modeling, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate directly with fund managers and investment teams to optimize financial operations, improve reporting accuracy, and enhance transparency for limited partners and stakeholders.
• Lead financial due diligence efforts for new fund launches, secondary transactions, or portfolio company acquisitions, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and investor expectations.
• Design and implement scalable financial systems and controls tailored to the unique operational needs of alternative investment vehicles, including fund accounting, NAV calculations, and fee structures.
• Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, KPI dashboards, and investor communications that meet the expectations of sophisticated institutional investors and family office clients.
• Advise on tax-efficient fund structures, capital calls, distributions, and liquidity events while maintaining strict adherence to SEC, CFTC, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Work remotely with clients across the U.S. and internationally, managing multiple engagements simultaneously with high autonomy and minimal oversight.
• Leverage deep industry knowledge to identify financial risks and opportunities, providing proactive recommendations that drive fund performance and investor confidence.
• Maintain confidentiality and fiduciary responsibility when handling sensitive financial data, investor information, and proprietary investment strategies.
• Engage exclusively with clients in the alternative investment space—no corporate finance, public company, or non-alt-industry roles.
• Focus solely on delivery of financial expertise; Arootah handles client origination, contract negotiation, billing, and administrative logistics.
• Adapt quickly to varying client cultures, fund sizes, and investment strategies, from early-stage venture funds to multi-billion-dollar private equity platforms.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving regulatory trends, fund administration technologies, and market conditions impacting alternative investments.
• Deliver high-impact results within defined project timelines, typically ranging from a few weeks to several months per engagement.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of CFO-level experience in hedge funds, private equity firms, or family offices
• Proven track record in fund structuring, capital raising, investor reporting, and NAV administration for alternative investments
• Deep understanding of SEC, CFTC, and other relevant regulatory requirements for alternative asset managers
• Experience managing financial operations for funds with $100M+ AUM
