- • Review and assess existing codebases, often generated by AI tools or built by non-technical founders, to identify bugs, structural flaws, and technical risks
- • Refactor and stabilize applications to make them production-ready, focusing on reliability, performance, and maintainability rather than new feature development
- • Fill critical gaps in core functionality including authentication, payment processing, backend logic, and data flow integrity
- • Improve code structure and architecture to reduce technical debt and increase long-term scalability
- • Implement lightweight QA and testing protocols where none exist, ensuring baseline stability and error handling
- • Collaborate with engineers, QA teams, and project leads across multiple early-stage products simultaneously
- • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities as project demands change, often working on 2–4 concurrent engagements
- • Work without comprehensive documentation, relying on code analysis and logical inference to understand system behavior
- • Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks in frontend, backend, and database layers
- • Ensure modern web architectures are properly implemented, including API design, state management, and secure data handling
- • Maintain consistent code quality across diverse tech stacks, prioritizing clean, readable, and testable patterns
- • Deliver incremental improvements that enable non-technical founders to confidently scale their products
- • Operate in fast-moving, delivery-focused environments with minimal oversight and high autonomy
- • Engage in hourly, fractional engagements ranging from 10 to 40 hours per week, with initial contracts typically lasting 4 weeks
- • Transition products from fragile MVPs to stable, production-grade systems through systematic code review and iterative fixes
- • Work across a flexible tech stack including Python (FastAPI, Django), Node.js/TypeScript, React/Next.js, Firebase, Supabase, and modern web APIs
- • Prioritize practical, solution-oriented engineering over theoretical or idealized approaches
- • Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders to explain technical constraints and proposed fixes
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of full stack engineering experience
- • Proven experience working in messy, inherited, or undocumented codebases
- • Demonstrated ability to take products from MVP to stable, production-ready state
- • Comfort operating without full documentation and in fast-moving, delivery-focused environments
- • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and non-technical teams
- • Practical, solution-oriented mindset focused on real-world stability over theoretical perfection
