đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Fraud Agent at Whatnot, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of the platform by investigating and mitigating fraudulent activity across a rapidly growing livestream shopping marketplace. Your work directly protects both buyers and sellers from financial harm, supports trust in the platform, and enables the company to scale securely in a high-velocity, innovative environment where new fraud patterns emerge constantly.
  • • You will conduct daily reviews of transaction data, user behavior, and seller activity to identify potential fraud patterns, respond to customer inquiries about suspicious activity, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine fraud prevention strategies that balance security with user experience. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented mindset and the ability to act quickly while maintaining high standards of accuracy and empathy.
  • • You will work closely with the Trust & Safety, Customer Support, Payments, and Product teams to ensure timely resolution of fraud cases, meet internal SLAs for case handling, and contribute insights that drive long-term improvements in fraud detection systems and policies. Your findings will help shape platform-wide safeguards that protect the community and support sustainable growth.
  • • Whatnot is a mission-driven, fast-scaling startup backed by top-tier investors and recognized as a #1 Best Startup Employer in America by Forbes. Operating as a remote-co-located team with hubs in Phoenix, AZ, and global locations including the UK, Ireland, Poland, Germany, and Australia, the company fosters a culture of low ego, high impact, and continuous learning—where everyone is expected to contribute beyond their job description and grow alongside the business.
  • • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in e-commerce fraud trends, payment dispute resolution, and marketplace risk management while building transferable skills in data-informed decision-making, customer advocacy, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll have the opportunity to influence product and policy decisions, gain exposure to cutting-edge fraud prevention tools, and grow your career in a company that values initiative, curiosity, and a customer-first mindset—especially if you have passion for collectibles, e-commerce, or building trust in digital marketplaces.

  • • Weekend availability required; availability to work holidays as needed
  • • Experience with customer-facing systems such as Zendesk, Kustomer, or Intercom
  • • Proactive problem-solver with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a process-improvement mindset
  • • Understanding of e-commerce and marketplace operations; familiarity with payment processors, parcel delivery, or social media platforms is a plus
  • • 4-year degree is a plus; knowledge of collectibles is a bonus
