Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join the award-winning MLB Network team as a Freelance Remote Operations Support specialist and become the behind-the-scenes engine that powers every pitch, play, and post-game interview that millions of fans see on-air. From Opening Day in March through the final out of the World Series in October, you will be embedded in the heartbeat of baseball’s most trusted broadcast network, ensuring flawless execution of remote productions that span ballparks across North America.
- • You will serve as the critical bridge between on-site production crews and the New York-based operations hub, coordinating schedules, tracking equipment manifests, and updating real-time rundowns so that producers, directors, and technical directors have the most accurate information at their fingertips. Whether it’s a Sunday Night Baseball marquee matchup at Fenway or a late-season Wild Card chase in Seattle, your meticulous preparation will guarantee that every camera angle, replay server, and graphics package is in place before the first pitch.
- • On a daily basis you will monitor and maintain shared production calendars, flagging potential conflicts and proactively offering alternative solutions that keep remote shows on time and on budget. You will build and distribute call sheets, travel itineraries, and shipping lists for more than 50 mobile units, fly-packs, and specialty rigs, ensuring that every lens, cable, and microphone arrives at the right ballpark on the right day.
- • You will act as the first point of contact for freelance crew members, answering questions about credentials, parking, and COVID protocols while maintaining the highest standards of customer service. By creating concise FAQ documents and quick-reference guides, you will reduce inbound inquiries and free senior operations managers to focus on higher-level strategic planning.
- • Throughout the season you will capture and organize production notes, technical feedback, and lessons learned into a living knowledge base that will be used to refine workflows for next year’s slate of games. Your attention to detail will directly influence the evolution of MLB Network’s remote operations playbook, turning one-off fixes into scalable best practices.
- • You will leverage cloud-based tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Airtable to build dashboards that visualize crewing gaps, equipment utilization rates, and shipping statuses in real time. These dashboards will be referenced by executives during weekly operations calls, giving you direct visibility into decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.
- • During high-pressure events like the All-Star Game and Postseason, you will transition into a rapid-response role, triaging urgent requests for additional RF frequencies, last-minute graphics changes, and emergency crew replacements. Your calm demeanor and solution-oriented mindset will ensure that on-air quality never suffers, even when Mother Nature or a surprise double-header threatens to derail the plan.
- • You will collaborate with the Network’s diversity, equity, and inclusion task force to expand the freelance crew roster, sourcing emerging talent from HBCUs, community colleges, and military veteran programs. By onboarding and mentoring these new voices, you will help MLB Network reflect the rich diversity of the sport’s fan base.
- • At the conclusion of the season you will compile a comprehensive wrap report that quantifies cost savings, crew utilization improvements, and logistical wins. This document will be presented to senior leadership and will serve as a benchmark for future seasonal hires, ensuring that each year’s team starts stronger than the last.
