đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Freight Specialist at ShipBob, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and efficient movement of goods across our extensive logistics network. This position is crucial for maintaining our commitment to exceptional customer service and operational excellence. You will be entrusted with the responsibility of booking various types of shipments, including Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), partial, and Full Truckload (FTL), catering to a diverse range of business needs. These needs span internal transfers within the ShipBob network, client customer orders, client inbound shipments, and client B2B orders, demanding a comprehensive understanding of different freight requirements and carrier capabilities.
  • • A core aspect of your role will involve proactive problem-solving. You will be expected to identify, investigate, and resolve any service disruptions or potential issues that could lead to failing to meet agreed-upon customer service guarantees. This requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to anticipate challenges, and the agility to implement effective solutions swiftly. Your success in this area directly impacts client satisfaction and the overall reliability of our fulfillment services.
  • • You will be instrumental in managing and optimizing our transportation spend. This involves leveraging ShipBob's proprietary tools and established processes to identify the most cost-effective carriers that meet specific shipment requirements without compromising on service quality or delivery timelines. By making informed decisions, you will contribute to the financial health and efficiency of our freight operations.
  • • Strengthening ShipBob Freight's key performance indicators (KPIs) will be a significant focus. You will achieve this through close monitoring of carrier and facility performance, with a particular emphasis on on-time pick-ups and on-time deliveries. Instances of noncompliance or repeated service failures will require your immediate attention and escalation to ensure accountability and continuous improvement within our carrier portfolio.
  • • The role also entails the critical task of reviewing open orders and optimizing load plans. This optimization will be based on essential shipment attributes such as pallet count, weight, origin, destination, ship-by dates, and deliver-by dates. Effective load planning ensures that shipments are consolidated efficiently, reducing costs and transit times.
  • • You will be the primary point of contact for addressing freight status inquiries and escalations. These will originate from both internal client care teams and directly from our clients. Providing timely, accurate, and professional responses is paramount to maintaining strong client relationships and trust.
  • • Collaboration is key in this fast-paced environment. You will work cross-functionally with various departments, both internally and externally, to ensure smooth operations and resolve complex logistical challenges. This requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster a cohesive working relationship.
  • • You will be responsible for tracking missed delivery and pick-up appointments for both merchant and ShipBob-managed freight. Recovering any rolled shipments and minimizing their impact on the supply chain will be a critical responsibility.
  • • Maintaining multiple reports specific to the Freight team's standard operating procedures is essential for tracking performance, identifying trends, and supporting data-driven decision-making. Accuracy and diligence in report maintenance are expected.
  • • Compliance with all food safety and regulatory policies is non-negotiable, especially given the nature of the goods handled within the fulfillment network. You will ensure all freight-related activities adhere to these standards.
  • • This role offers a significant opportunity for professional growth. There is a clear potential for advancement within the Freight Operations team within 2 to 3 years, contingent upon business needs and your demonstrated performance and development. You will report directly to the Senior Manager, Freight Operations, providing a clear line of communication and mentorship.
  • • Embracing an ownership mindset is encouraged. ShipBob champions continuous learning and proactive innovation. You will be empowered to identify challenges, take ownership of initiatives, and contribute to driving growth for our merchants, the company, and your own career. By tackling complex problems and exploring creative solutions, you will actively shape the future of ShipBob's logistics operations.
  • • Collaboration with peers and leaders is a cornerstone of ShipBob's culture. You will be part of a supportive environment where mutual respect, open communication, and high standards drive collective success. Your contributions will be valued in an atmosphere that fosters trust and motivates teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • • Experience a high-performance culture with a clear purpose. ShipBob is dedicated to delivering tangible results, creating a goal-driven environment where every team member understands their impact and is accountable for their contributions. Success is measured through concrete outcomes, allowing for shared victories and recognition of individual and team achievements.
