Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end development of mission-critical user interfaces that allow satellite operators, mission planners, and ground-station engineers to monitor and control Kepler’s 23+ spacecraft and the next-generation optical constellation in real time. Your code will be the lens through which humans interact with machines orbiting Earth.
- • Architect, build, and continuously refine scalable React applications that visualize telemetry, automate pass scheduling, and surface actionable insights from terabytes of orbital data. Every component you ship must withstand the rigors of 24/7 operations and maintain sub-second responsiveness under peak traffic.
- • Collaborate daily with cross-functional squads that include satellite operators, RF engineers, product managers, and DevOps specialists. You will translate complex orbital-mechanics workflows into intuitive, pixel-perfect dashboards that reduce cognitive load and prevent costly mission errors.
- • Champion best practices in front-end performance, security, and accessibility. Implement automated testing (unit, integration, visual regression) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) to ensure zero-downtime deployments and rapid iteration cycles.
- • Monitor system health in production using observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and proactively squash bugs before they impact spacecraft communications. When anomalies arise, you will lead incident retrospectives and codify lessons learned into resilient design patterns.
- • Contribute to the design and evolution of RESTful and GraphQL APIs that power your UIs, ensuring seamless data flow from spacecraft downlinks through cloud micro-services and into the browser. Your feedback loop with back-end teams will shape API contracts and data models.
- • Experiment with emerging technologies—WebAssembly, WebGL, real-time 3D visualizations—to push the boundaries of what a browser can do in mission control. Your prototypes may become the standard for how humanity interacts with space infrastructure.
- • Mentor junior developers through pair programming, code reviews, and lunch-and-learn sessions. Foster an inclusive culture where bold ideas are welcomed and psychological safety is non-negotiable.
- • Leverage Kepler’s $1,500 annual professional-development fund to attend conferences, pursue certifications, or build side projects that sharpen your craft. Share your learnings in company-wide tech talks and contribute to our open-source initiatives.
- • Participate in semi-annual company parties, weekly town halls, and impromptu game nights in our fully stocked Toronto office. Whether you’re debugging a React render loop or debating the optimal trajectory for a polar orbit, you’ll do it alongside teammates who are as passionate about space as you are.
