- • As a Frontend Engineer II on the Client Risk team at Airwallex, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience and functionality of critical web applications that empower our Risk Operations, Compliance, and internal stakeholders. Your primary focus will be on designing, building, and evolving these applications, ensuring they are not only intuitive and efficient but also instill a high degree of trust for complex risk investigation and management workflows.
- • You will be instrumental in translating intricate, often ambiguous, operational challenges into clear, actionable user experience flows. This involves close collaboration with Product Managers and Operations teams to ensure that the solutions developed are not only effective but also auditable and fully compliant with regulatory requirements.
- • A key aspect of your role will be to establish and maintain robust frontend foundations. This includes developing reusable component libraries, shared modules, and standardized patterns for critical areas such as state management, access control, and form-heavy workflows. These foundations will be crucial for enabling consistent and high-quality feature delivery across our diverse systems.
- • You will be responsible for integrating these frontend applications with backend services, utilizing technologies like REST and/or GraphQL. A strong emphasis will be placed on ensuring correct data contracts, optimizing performance, and guaranteeing the reliability of these operational experiences, which are vital for the smooth functioning of our risk management processes.
- • Driving frontend architecture and engineering excellence is a core responsibility. This encompasses a wide range of activities, including performance optimization to ensure snappy user interactions, implementing comprehensive observability for proactive issue detection, defining a robust testing strategy to guarantee correctness, ensuring accessibility for all users, and upholding maintainable code practices for long-term project health.
- • Cross-functional collaboration will be a daily occurrence. You will work closely with backend engineers, data specialists, and compliance partners to deliver solutions that yield measurable improvements in operational efficiency and risk management outcomes. Your ability to communicate effectively and contribute to a shared understanding will be key to success.
- • While this role is primarily frontend-focused, Airwallex strongly prefers candidates with full-stack experience or a demonstrated willingness to engage in light backend or BFF (Backend for Frontend) tasks. This flexibility, often augmented by modern coding assistants, allows for the independent delivery of end-to-end features when the backend scope is clearly defined, fostering a culture of ownership and accelerated delivery.
- • We champion engineers who can "own a feature" from conception to completion. If a feature necessitates a minor, well-scoped backend or BFF modification, we encourage individuals to explore and deliver it independently, provided it is done with appropriate code reviews and within established guardrails. Responsible utilization of coding assistants is encouraged to streamline this process.
- • Your contributions will directly impact Airwallex's ability to manage financial crime and credit risk proactively across all its products. By building sophisticated tools for investigation, decision-making, and client risk management at scale, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the company's responsible global growth.
- • The team's vision is to create a unified, data-driven perspective of each client by consolidating diverse internal and external insights. You will contribute to this vision by developing the frontend interfaces that make these insights accessible and actionable for our risk and compliance teams.
- • You will be part of a dynamic environment that leverages advanced machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to enhance decision intelligence and automate operational workflows. Your frontend expertise will be crucial in presenting the outputs and controls for these advanced systems.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-visibility problems with exceptional teammates in a fast-paced fintech environment. You will have the chance to accelerate your career growth as Airwallex continues to build the future of global banking and payments.
