- • Join Hawk-Eye Innovations, a world-leading sports technology company and a proud member of the Sony Group, as a Frontend Engineer (Level 2). In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of sports technology by building and maintaining sophisticated, data-rich, interactive user interface platforms. These platforms are the backbone of how sports professionals and fans engage with real-time data and insights across the globe.
- • As a Frontend Engineer, you will be at the forefront of translating complex sports data into clear, intuitive, and highly usable experiences. Your work will directly impact the tools used by analysts and coaches for in-depth video analysis, as well as the live visualisations and broadcast overlays that captivate audiences worldwide. You’ll be contributing to systems that power real-time match data, assist officials with crucial video analysis, and deliver engaging insights to fans, enhancing their understanding and enjoyment of the game.
- • This is an exceptional opportunity for an early-career engineer who is eager to learn, grow their expertise, and make a tangible contribution to systems that seamlessly blend cutting-edge design, high performance, and dynamic interactivity. You will be working within a collaborative Engineering Team/Department, reporting to Jon Frost, our Principal Frontend Engineer, who leads the Frontend Engineering discipline.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve the hands-on building and ongoing maintenance of user interfaces, primarily utilising React and TypeScript. You will be a key player in transforming intricate sports data into user-friendly interfaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This involves close collaboration with backend engineers, designers, and data specialists to ensure the seamless delivery of new features and enhancements.
- • A core aspect of your role will be writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices and team standards, with direct guidance and support from senior engineers. You will also be responsible for thorough testing and debugging across a wide range of browsers and devices, ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience for all our clients.
- • This position offers a structured environment for developing your skills in critical areas such as frontend performance optimisation, architectural design principles, and efficient release workflows. You will benefit from dedicated mentorship and regular feedback sessions, all designed to accelerate your growth and solidify your expertise in frontend development.
- • Key responsibilities extend to ensuring the functionality and maintainability of all code written, aligning with established team standards and coding conventions. You will actively participate in the task tracking process using Jira and manage version control effectively with Git. Engagement in code reviews is essential, providing a platform to learn from your peers and contribute your own insights, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- • Furthermore, you will be encouraged to continuously develop your technical skills, staying abreast of the latest frontend technologies and methodologies. Your proactive contribution of ideas and innovative solutions will be highly valued, helping to drive the evolution of our products and services.
- • We are looking for individuals who possess a foundational understanding of modern frontend development, including HTML, CSS, and contemporary UI development libraries. Experience with React and TypeScript, whether gained through university coursework, internships, or personal projects, is highly desirable. A solid grasp of API principles and JSON data handling is crucial for integrating our systems effectively.
- • An interest in automated testing methodologies and tools such as Cypress or Jest is a significant plus, as is a clear and effective communication style. We value individuals who are receptive to feedback and demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for writing clean, easy-to-understand, and robust code. Your passion for sports, data visualisation, or real-time systems will be a welcome addition, aligning with the core of our business.
