• • As a Principal Frontend Engineer at Commvault, you will be a pivotal technical leader responsible for the frontend platform and foundational elements that drive Clumio's sophisticated SaaS experience. Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, this role demands a unique blend of deep, hands-on frontend development expertise and strategic architectural leadership. Your primary focus will be on architecting, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and high-quality frontend systems that are integral to the entire product suite.
• • You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and operating backend services that are crucial for core platform capabilities. This includes, but is not limited to, control planes, robust user-access management systems, and complex backup workflows, ensuring seamless integration with the frontend experience.
• • A significant aspect of your role will involve owning and driving cross-cutting frontend platform initiatives. These initiatives will span multiple product teams and applications, requiring you to foster collaboration and ensure alignment across diverse engineering efforts.
• • This ownership extends to the design and continuous evolution of shared frontend platforms. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining component libraries, establishing comprehensive design systems, and building common infrastructure that promotes consistency and efficiency across the organization.
• • You will play a key role in defining frontend architectural standards and best practices. Your technical decisions will be critical in balancing crucial factors such as user experience, application performance, long-term maintainability, and an optimized developer experience for your colleagues.
• • You will lead complex, end-to-end initiatives, from the initial problem definition and conceptualization through to production rollout and widespread adoption. A key responsibility is ensuring that the intended architectural vision is meticulously translated into production-ready, high-quality implementations.
• • This position requires you to remain deeply hands-on. You will dedicate a substantial portion of your time to writing and reviewing code, tackling intricate frontend application and platform challenges, and actively supporting frontend systems once they are live in production.
• • You will collaborate closely with the Engineering Director and partner effectively with senior engineers, product managers, and designers. Your contributions will be vital in guiding the overall technical direction, mentoring and developing junior engineers, and establishing essential UI standards and platform capabilities that empower the frontend to scale effectively across teams and adapt seamlessly with the evolving product roadmap.
