• • We are seeking talented Frontend Product Engineers to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in building these advanced AI applications. This unique position lies at the confluence of software engineering, product development, and AI systems. You will collaborate intimately with customer domain experts, AI strategists, AI researchers, and the Platform Engineering Team. Your primary focus will be to design, develop, and deploy intuitive interfaces that empower human operators to effectively guide, evaluate, and continuously improve AI systems operating in production environments. Many of these applications will initially serve as forward-deployed tools tailored for specific customer needs, with the most successful ideas and robust patterns subsequently integrated into the core Distyl platform.

• • Key responsibilities include the design and deployment of sophisticated interfaces that enable operators to interact seamlessly with AI systems to execute critical operational tasks. These applications may span a wide range, including but not limited to: intelligent knowledge capture tools, robust evaluation and feedback workflows, intuitive AI configuration and control interfaces, sophisticated workflow orchestration tools, and highly customized applications designed for specific enterprise use cases. You will work closely with AI Strategists and customer domain experts to gain a deep understanding of their existing real-world workflows and operational challenges.
• • A core aspect of this role involves translating these complex workflows into functional and user-friendly product experiences, empowering operators to effectively interact with and guide AI systems. You will be expected to move with agility from initial concept through prototyping to full production deployment, embracing a rapid iteration cycle. Your work will directly leverage real user interactions and observed system behavior to iteratively refine both the product experience and the underlying AI systems it supports. This includes integrating applications with cutting-edge Large Language Models (LLMs), sophisticated evaluation pipelines, and Distyl's internal AI infrastructure. A critical understanding of how interface design choices influence system behavior, the quality of feedback loops, user trust, and the overall effectiveness of system improvement cycles is essential.
• • This role is ideal for early-career builders with 0-3 years of software engineering experience who are comfortable developing modern web applications. Proficiency with tools such as TypeScript, React, modern component libraries, and API-driven architectures is expected. A keen eye for detail and an innate sense for creating exceptional product experiences are highly valued. You should possess a genuine passion for well-crafted products and the confidence to advocate for high standards in design and user experience. While a formal design background is not required, a strong appreciation for user-centric design and its impact on workflow efficiency and user guidance is crucial. We encourage candidates who actively utilize AI tools in their daily workflow for tasks like code writing and debugging, prototype generation, design exploration, and accelerating iteration. An enthusiasm for experimenting with new AI-native software development methodologies is a significant plus. The ability to navigate and define solutions for initially unclear problems, working collaboratively with users to determine the optimal build, is key. Finally, a genuine enjoyment of working directly with real users and a deep interest in understanding complex operational problems are fundamental to success in this role.
