📋 Description

• Own the end-to-end delivery of Wordly’s customer-facing web experiences, translating complex real-time translation requirements into intuitive, performant, and accessible user interfaces that delight millions of users across 50+ languages.
• Lead a nimble, fully-remote frontend squad (2-5 engineers) through the full SDLC: scoping, architecture, estimation, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, QA, and iterative releases—while still rolling up your sleeves and writing production-grade code every week.
• Partner daily with product managers, UX designers, backend engineers, and DevOps to translate high-level product goals into detailed technical blueprints, ensuring every pixel and API contract aligns with Wordly’s mission of friction-free global communication.
• Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable React/TypeScript codebases (Next.js, Vercel, Webpack, Jest, Cypress) that can evolve from MVP to enterprise-grade without re-writes, leveraging modern patterns (hooks, suspense, server components) and rigorous automated testing.
• Champion a culture of engineering excellence: define coding standards, review pull requests with empathy and rigor, enforce accessibility (WCAG 2.1), performance budgets (<100 ms TTI), and security best practices (OWASP) across all frontend deliverables.
• Rapidly prototype new features—such as live caption overlays, multi-language breakout rooms, and AI-driven glossary suggestions—using Figma designs, Storybook, and feature flags, iterating based on A/B tests, user analytics, and customer feedback loops.
• Continuously refactor and modernize legacy Angular modules, migrating them to React micro-frontends while preserving backward compatibility, zero-downtime deployments, and seamless user transitions.
• Design and maintain shared component libraries, design-system tokens, and automated visual-regression tests so that every Wordly product—web app, admin portal, and partner SDK—feels cohesive and on-brand.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pair programming, lunch-and-learns, and career-development plans, accelerating their growth into confident, autonomous contributors who uphold Wordly’s quality bar.
• Establish and monitor SLIs/SLOs for frontend health (Core Web Vitals, error budgets, Lighthouse scores) and lead blameless post-mortems for any customer-impacting incidents, turning lessons learned into actionable process improvements.
• Contribute to Wordly’s open-source initiatives and technical blog posts, sharing insights on real-time WebRTC, internationalization pipelines, and high-scale event streaming to strengthen our employer brand and attract top-tier talent.
• Influence the broader engineering roadmap by evaluating emerging technologies (WebAssembly, Edge-side rendering, AI-assisted coding tools) and proposing adoption strategies that balance innovation with maintainability.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of production frontend experience with deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript tooling (Webpack, Vite, Babel).
• Proven leadership of a distributed frontend team, including mentoring, code-review culture, and agile delivery practices.
• Demonstrated success in migrating legacy codebases (Angular or similar) to modern React architectures without service disruption.
• Strong grasp of web performance, accessibility (WCAG 2.1), and security best practices (OWASP).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (Jest, Cypress), and cloud deployment (Vercel, AWS, or GCP).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus.
