• Vana, Inc. is a rapidly expanding fintech company operating in Latin America, and we are on the lookout for a motivated and enthusiastic Frontend Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Guatemala. This is an individual contributor role where you will be instrumental in the entire lifecycle of resilient and sustainable software projects, from the initial design phases through to implementation and successful rollout.
• As a Frontend Engineer, your primary responsibility will be the development of scalable and maintainable frontend software products. You will be deeply involved in integrating these frontend solutions with robust cloud services, ensuring a seamless and efficient user experience. This role demands a proactive approach, where you will collaborate closely with a diverse range of cross-functional teams. This includes working hand-in-hand with talented UI/UX designers to translate their visions into reality, partnering with backend developers to ensure smooth data flow and API integrations, and coordinating with product managers to align technical solutions with business objectives and user needs.
• You will have the invaluable opportunity to learn and apply industry-leading best practices in software development. This encompasses a strong emphasis on writing clean, efficient code, implementing comprehensive unit testing strategies, understanding and participating in deployment pipelines, and contributing to the monitoring of applications in a production environment. While you will receive guidance from senior engineers, we expect you to demonstrate initiative, act with a sense of urgency, and consistently deliver high-quality work that demonstrably adds value to our business and, most importantly, to our customers.
• Key Responsibilities include:
• Develop Scalable Software Products: Design, develop, and implement high-quality, scalable frontend solutions. You will leverage modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, and JavaScript to build robust and performant applications that can grow with our user base and business needs.
• Implement UI Designs: Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to meticulously translate design specifications into responsive, interactive, and visually accurate user interfaces. Your focus will be on ensuring a seamless, intuitive, and delightful user experience across all devices and platforms.
• Execute on Defined Projects: Independently analyze problems, define the most effective technical solutions, or skillfully utilize existing approaches to achieve team-level goals and deliver on project requirements.
• Take Ownership: Demonstrate a strong sense of accountability by following through on all commitments, taking full responsibility for your work from inception to completion, delivering projects on time, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement in both project outcomes and team processes.
• Collaborate within the Team: Actively participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing overall code quality, fostering the adoption of best practices, and building a strong, collaborative team environment.
• Implement Unit Tests and Best Practices: Write comprehensive unit tests for all new features using appropriate libraries such as Jest and React Testing Library. This commitment to testing ensures the reliability, stability, and maintainability of our codebase.
• Engage in Agile Processes: Fully participate in Agile development methodologies, including sprint planning sessions, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings, working closely with the development team, engineering manager, and product manager.
• Stay Up-to-Date with Frontend Technologies: Continuously research and stay abreast of the latest advancements in frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry trends. This ensures that our products remain competitive, innovative, and utilize the most effective tools available.
• Cloud Integration: Gain practical experience integrating frontend applications with cloud services. You will primarily work with AWS, utilizing services like S3 for static asset hosting and CloudFront for content delivery, ensuring efficient and scalable deployments.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek feedback on your performance and development, engage in continuous personal growth, and contribute to the overall development of the team by innovating and proposing new ideas and approaches to challenges.
• Mentorship: As you grow within the role, you may have the opportunity to mentor new hires, interns, or junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them develop their technical skills and professional growth.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development, with a significant focus on frontend development.
• Proficiency in modern frontend technologies including React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Proven experience in translating UI/UX designs into high-fidelity, responsive, and interactive user interfaces with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience writing unit tests for UI components using libraries such as Jest or React Testing Library.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and participation in Agile ceremonies.
