Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the full product lifecycle—from whiteboard sketches to production deployment—on a platform that connects 1M+ students, alumni, and professionals across 300+ universities and Fortune-500 companies.
- • Ship new features end-to-end in PHP (Laravel) and modern JavaScript (Vue.js/React) that directly improve mentor–mentee matching, video-chat scheduling, and community analytics dashboards used daily by millions.
- • Refactor and scale our monolithic Laravel application into service-oriented modules, introducing caching layers (Redis), message queues (RabbitMQ), and container orchestration (Kubernetes) to cut page-load times by 40 %.
- • Build internal tooling that slashes client onboarding from weeks to hours: self-service theming wizards, CSV ingest pipelines, and automated QA suites that surface configuration issues before clients ever see them.
- • Modernize the front-end incrementally—migrate legacy jQuery widgets to Vue 3/React, establish a component library with Storybook, and implement real-time updates via WebSockets so users never refresh for new messages.
- • Establish CI/CD best practices: GitHub Actions pipelines, automated testing (PHPUnit, Jest, Cypress), blue-green deploys, and infrastructure-as-code so every pull request ships to production safely within minutes.
- • Collaborate daily with a cross-functional squad of product managers, designers, and customer-success engineers in Notion, Slack, and Figma; your prototypes often become the spec that the rest of the team rallies around.
- • Instrument everything with observability: structured logging, distributed tracing, and anomaly alerts that let us detect and fix issues before clients open tickets—turning reactive firefighting into proactive delight.
- • Champion accessibility and inclusive design; audit components for WCAG 2.1 compliance and mentor junior engineers on semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader testing.
- • Influence technical strategy: evaluate new frameworks, propose architectural RFCs, and run fortnightly “lunch & learn” sessions to keep the entire engineering team on the cutting edge.
- • Participate in rotating on-call with follow-the-sun coverage; we value sleep, so you’ll have ample runbooks, automated rollbacks, and a culture that treats incidents as learning opportunities—not blame games.
- • Contribute to open-source: upstream bug fixes to Laravel, release internal packages, and represent PeopleGrove at PHP and JavaScript meetups (we cover travel and speaking fees).
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years shipping consumer-facing web applications in PHP (Laravel) and JavaScript (Vue.js, React, or similar).
- • Demonstrated ability to own features from conception to release: writing specs, schema design, API endpoints, automated tests, and deployment automation.
- • Strong eye for product design and UX—comfortable translating Figma mocks into pixel-perfect, responsive interfaces without a design hand-off checklist.
- • Self-starter who proposes architectural improvements, initiates refactors, and drives adoption of best practices across the team.
- • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, CI/CD pipelines, or mentoring junior developers.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote—work from any location in India with a one-time home-office setup reimbursement (₹50,000) and monthly internet stipend.
- • Competitive salary benchmarked to top Indian product companies plus annual performance bonus.
- • Flexible paid vacation policy (minimum 24 days) and company-wide mental-health days every quarter.
- • Friendly, mission-driven culture that celebrates diversity and offers clear career-growth paths to Staff Engineer or Engineering Manager.
