Fund Accounting Senior Associate (Crypto)

📋 Description

• • Own the complete accounting life-cycle for 22,000+ venture funds, syndicates and rolling funds that hold crypto assets—ensuring every on-chain transaction, staking reward, airdrop, fork and DeFi protocol interaction is properly recorded, valued and reported in accordance with GAAP and industry best practices.
• • Serve as the subject-matter expert for digital-asset accounting: reconcile wallets, exchanges and custodians; price illiquid tokens using multiple data sources; calculate NAVs that reflect real-time market conditions; and prepare investor statements that demystify complex crypto positions for LPs.
• • Review post-close valuation and accounting updates, investigate exceptions flagged by our automated ingestion pipeline, and partner with engineering to refine rules that reduce manual touchpoints—turning edge-cases into scalable processes.
• • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles for assigned fund groups, ensuring trial balances tie to underlying blockchain data, management & administrative fees are computed accurately, and waterfall distributions reflect the latest LP agreements.
• • Collaborate with tax, compliance, legal and portfolio-management teams to interpret new tokenomic structures, staking derivatives, liquidity mining rewards and governance tokens—translating technical whitepapers into auditable journal entries.
• • Respond to investor inquiries with clarity and speed, producing ad-hoc reports that explain performance attribution, token unlock schedules, gas-fee impact and slippage—building trust through radical transparency.
• • Research and document emerging accounting literature (FASB, SEC, AICPA) related to digital assets, stablecoins, NFTs and DAO treasuries—publishing internal memos that keep Belltower at the forefront of crypto fund administration.
• • Drive continuous improvement: automate reconciliations in Python/SQL, build dashboards in Looker, and propose new controls that safeguard client assets while cutting close-cycle time by 20% year-over-year.
• • Mentor junior associates on crypto fundamentals—wallet types, Layer-2 rollups, custody risk, key management—creating a learning culture that scales with our growing client base.
• • Represent Belltower externally at industry conferences, webinars and working groups, sharing insights on fund-administration best practices and reinforcing our reputation as the gold-standard for crypto-native back-office services.
• • Thrive in a 100% remote environment that spans 6 time zones, leveraging asynchronous communication (Slack, Notion, Loom) to keep stakeholders aligned and deliverables on schedule.
• • Contribute to product road-mapping sessions with AngelList engineering, translating accounting pain-points into feature requests that benefit the entire venture ecosystem.
