- • Voodoo, a leading global mobile gaming company with over 800 employees and a staggering 7 billion downloads, is seeking a highly autonomous and impactful Game Level Designer to join our dynamic 'Live Games' team. Our mission is to entertain the world through innovative mobile games and apps, and we are looking for a creative architect to shape the core gameplay experience for our players, particularly within the puzzle genre. You will be instrumental in engineering our content pipeline, ensuring efficiency, quality, and player engagement.
- • As a Game Level Designer at Voodoo, you will be at the forefront of game development, working on successful puzzle titles such as 'This is Blast!' and 'Card Factory'. This role is a unique hybrid, blending hands-on design with a strong emphasis on automation and data-driven decision-making. You will have the autonomy to identify and address inefficiencies, build the tools and scripts necessary to accelerate level creation, and directly influence the meta-progression of our games. This is an opportunity to not just design levels, but to fundamentally improve the processes that bring them to life, maximizing both speed and quality.
- • Your responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle of level design and content pipeline management. You will be tasked with owning and automating the pipeline, proactively identifying bottlenecks and developing custom scripts or tools to significantly expedite the process of level creation. This involves a deep dive into existing workflows and a proactive approach to building solutions that enhance productivity for the entire team. You will also be deeply involved in hands-on level design, meticulously crafting and iterating on puzzle levels to ensure perfect progression curves that keep players engaged and challenged.
- • Beyond level creation, you will exert significant influence on game design. This includes prototyping and balancing new board mechanics, introducing innovative blockers, and designing compelling boosters that add strategic depth to the gameplay. Your insights into puzzle psychology, cognitive load management, and the art of 'near-fail' balancing will be crucial in creating addictive and satisfying player experiences. Furthermore, you will drive data-driven iteration, a cornerstone of Voodoo's success. This involves defining A/B tests for new features and mechanics, and critically, optimizing live 'level orders' based on key analytics such as win rates and player churn, ensuring continuous improvement and player retention.
