  • • Serve as General Counsel responsible for owning and executing the full legal strategy for Stedi, a fast-scaling healthcare clearinghouse operating in a highly regulated environment governed by HIPAA and X12 EDI standards.
  • • Develop and lead regulatory and compliance strategies to navigate complex interactions with insurance payers, providers, and other market stakeholders, turning regulatory uncertainty into a competitive advantage.
  • • Lead legal efforts in defending and advancing Stedi’s market position through competitive and enforcement matters, where legal outcomes directly impact market access and business growth.
  • • Build scalable legal frameworks for novel data products that operate at the intersection of healthcare data exchange, privacy regulations, and commercial innovation, ensuring defensible product design.
  • • Partner directly with the CEO and Board of Directors on high-stakes strategic decisions where legal and regulatory considerations define business direction and risk tolerance.
  • • Oversee all core legal functions including commercial contracting, dispute resolution, intellectual property, employment law, corporate governance, and fundraising activities, working closely with the Head of Legal.
  • • Identify and remove legal and regulatory blockers to accelerate key commercial deals, partnerships, and product launches in the healthcare technology ecosystem.
  • • Shape offensive legal strategies that differentiate Stedi from legacy clearinghouse providers by leveraging legal expertise to enable innovation, not just mitigate risk.
  • • Advise on compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other federal and state healthcare regulations impacting EDI transaction processing, data sharing, and system interoperability.
  • • Act as the primary legal liaison with healthcare payers, regulators, and third-party vendors, maintaining relationships critical to market access and operational continuity.
  • • Operate as a business-oriented legal leader who thinks like an executive, prioritizing strategic impact over risk avoidance, and who can move at the speed of a high-growth SaaS company.
  • • Solve cross-functional legal problems independently across domains including data privacy, payment systems, contract negotiation, litigation, and corporate structure.
  • • Ensure legal processes scale with Stedi’s rapid growth, implementing efficient systems for contract lifecycle management, compliance monitoring, and internal legal operations.
  • • Align all legal work with Stedi’s core standards of automation, eliminating toil, customer-first design, and transparency.
  • • Contribute to fundraising efforts by leading due diligence, drafting financing documentation, and advising on corporate structure changes related to equity and investor agreements.
  • • Maintain vigilance against legal and reputational risks associated with Stedi’s position as the first new healthcare clearinghouse in decades.
  • • Represent Stedi in regulatory investigations, audits, or enforcement actions related to healthcare data exchange practices.
  • • Champion a culture of proactive legal problem-solving where legal teams are integrated into product development and business strategy from inception.
